I have a great spot thou it could it be from my dwelling being close as to why i was hoping with the new respawn rates that they would spawn like the Thistles do now

They have for me, but very slow

Change fishing area. keep on shifting.

Just like in life, once an area has been fished out you need to go somewhere else to allow stocks to replenish. If more people behaved this way some fisheries on the planet would still be producing and people would be working.

They do but slowly. Best advice is to hop on a raft or karve and sail around the edges of the island and fish, by the time you go all the way around the first ones should be respawned. (and you'll have exactly a zillion and one fish)
