Ooze bombs... stink?
So I had a ton of ooze sitting around in chests and decided to make a stack of ooze bombs to try them out. The DOT is so slow that anything I use them on I'm better off just meleeing which is faster.
I tried them out on a swarm of graylings that raided at night and just stood there blocking. It killed every thing but the Shaman and Brutes but took longer than it would have if I had just bashed them.
I tried hunting with them. It kills neck and 0 star boars on the initial hit but it takes 1 or 2 ticks to kill 0 star deer and 1 and 2 star deer can actually run away and survive. The faster moving mobs in the other biomes are all most completely unaffected as they spend all most no time in the poison cloud.
Is there a good use for them and/or am I missing something?

They are great in mountain caves.
Also good against leeches; the leeches tend to group up so a good AOE target.

I'm visually impaired and don't usually see the deathsquito coming, especially since the sound clue is extremely low volume. I usually just keep my health up and retaliate after getting hit. 1 swing kills the squito. Doesn't throwing the ooze bomb alert other nearby mobs? If you see a Deathsquito coming at you, throw down an Ooze bomb. It will take it out as it flies through the poison. Good for when you are going through planes in low level gear.

I find then quite useful against close knit groups. They waiddle down most of the others health while you focus fire them one at a time.

They're not bad against wolves, especially when you're being hunted
Interesting. The bombs stink, and wolves have sensitive noses.

They’re pretty lackluster for sure. That said, I often used them in fuling camps. It isn’t uncommon that I’ll be delving into plains somewhat early such that fighting fulings is quite dangerous. If you aggro too many of them, these are useful tools for whittling down the mob. I’ve hit as many as 11 of them with a single throw and chipping away at their health while maintaining stamina and staying at range is useful.
If they had a small slow effect or something, they’d really be worth it. The problem lies with how many mobs are immune to them that would be ideal targets for them. I’d be a big fan of being able to modify them to deal fire damage instead.

Yeah, it seems like they are only good on mobs from the previous biomes instead of being useful on the ones you meet up with after getting the materials to make ooze bombs. They appear to need either a slow factor as you suggest or a longer range, larger AOE, and both a higher per tick damage and faster tick rate.
I haven't yet run headlong into a situation where I faced more than 4 fulings and I did try the ooze bombs on them. They spent a lot of time running around outside of the cloud instead of inside it and none of them lost more than 1/10th of their total health before the cloud was gone. For the 0 star ones a block and 2 hits was faster.

If there were a way to infuse them with Resin to make them flammable, a Freeze Gland to make them have a chill effect or other ideas along those lines... Thunder Stone bought from Merchant for lightning bombs? Something like that would make them far more usable.

They could also apply a "wet" effect, so you could combo the frostner for extra damage.

or be able to mix them with tar to slow down the mobs you throw them at.

Really? Against wolves I've always just backed away, block when one strikes, and retaliate. If there are more than 3 they seem to get in each others way. They're not bad against wolves, especially when you're being hunted
