Tips On Flattening.....
So got iron which means stone cutting is now a thing for me. Despite my hours i never tried stone building. My problem is flattening sizable amount of and for starting a stone foundation for my new base.
Are there any shortcuts, tip, or tricks besides the hoe or is it really just time consuming no matter what?
Thanks in advance.

For now, to keep it simple as i am a novice, i'm thinking 2 towers connecting at the base and 3rd level. Simple walls surrounding a medium sized area while outside is reinforced with spikes and spike walls.
After this, i'll add whatever when i feel inspired. That way, i have a simple, but improvable base with solid defense.

I start by planting a stone floor block, standing in place with my heels at its ground level, (not on top of it but on the actual ground) and then hoeing outward from there in rows without moving much at first until the limit of the hoe reach to widen out a stone block foundation and level quickly, plant another row of stone blocks, repeat. It's easier to make shallow pits this way where the stone might be kind of floating but 1 stone patch ground raise fills that in once you know where to target. If there is an annoying bump that won't flatten, it is a stone. Pick it and get the stone and it usually flattens nicely.
I used to get bulk rocks quickly in BF biome by tanking trolls on top of boulders and generally grabbing all the giant boulders and core wood there similarly with picks. Mountain ofc is the best place to mine bulk stone all day, and you can use golems to help you bash up the landscape similarly. I started viewing them as semi-construction machinery this way.

John, you have serious victimhood issues. No one in that topic was bullying you. In fact, you were the only one being openly rude. Editing your post doesn't affect me in any way since i had already read it.
Jareth, what you suggest sounds like alot of work but it also sounds worthwhile as well as a clean project. I'm gonna have to treat this like a super project.

Yeah planting guide pieces can be very helpful, can even be done with wood beams really. Give you a visual to level to. And also yes, some people have trouble using the level tool , but remembering that it always level to the ground at your feet (unless you hold left shift) can make it a lot easier.

I really liked how my first and second endeavors turned out. First was a proper giant mead hall longhouse but on top of a massive basement with room for all my crafting and smelting and enough room to wheel carts around in from the docks. Making the lower basement allowed me to do bi-level bonfires and cooking stations which provided heating and comfort core to the whole thing with 17 even in the upper story bedrooms. Second was a very high built up plains fortress using twin monoliths as bases and partial fortress walls. Not as artistic as my meadows home with docks, but more combat and production oriented. (Didn't even bother with comfort and roofing there since permanent portals back to the meadows home for quick rests)

My super project now is building off a mountain up to the world tree instead of just cheating a clip mode like a sane person. I'm sure it's just a skybox/waste of time, but fun to think about. "Oh, so you want a REAL Yule tree do you?" super project.
