Ok, gettin steamd.
I may be missing something as I tend to be a scatter brain. But why is there NO LOOT FILTER. I am SICK of picking up grey dwarf eyes I do not need and stone when I am mining silver. Is there a mod to do this or some game command I missed?

Had to uninstall, to many "You are being hunted" Popped up and causes too many deleveling of skills. Probably leave this one in the dust.
Duuude, seriously?? First of all, wrong topic... theres a specific post on this exact event with lots of ways to help deal with it.
Secondly, you can easily install a mod to remove that one specific raid event if you hate it so much. Or change raid frequency. Personally I increased the raids, but it could easily be used in the other direction.
To the OP, consider some mods to fix your issues with eyes. There is a mod that will add extra slots to your inventory. Eyes dont weigh much so if you dont have to worry about limited slots quite so much then it won matter if you pick up random garbage.
When you get back to base just use a second mod, trashcan, to chunk all the junk, then add the useful stuff to your chests or whatever.

Yeah, mine didnt do that. At least for copper. I spent ages mining around it and was left with a big floating blob. When I mined the top....i got a chunk of copper and a bitter disappointment.

One can never have enough eyes. But you can try to split stacks in inventory to close out spots so you only pick up what you want. Also ide advise crafting stone piles (no workbench needed, if you didnt want to make a mining camp for rested/sheltered bonus) with the spare stone. I am SICK of picking up grey dwarf eyes I do not need and stone when I am mining silver.
I have this problem when fighting greydwarves. So much random stuff.
Also as a tangent, when you mine silver, one thing you can do is mine the area around the vein with antler picks, seperating the vein from the earth, then hit the area in the middle 10-12 times and the whole vein breaks. It is very visually satisfying

I go out to mine stones, so it really doesn't bother me to get some for free when mining ores. Can't imagine how fast you use up the stockpiled stone once you start building big stone structures.

So any loot one does not want is blocked, and only the loot one wants to pick up is picked up. By holding down the [Shift]-key one can split up stacks. By default the stack will always be split in half, then using the slider one can choose how much of the stack to transfer. By filling all ones inventory slots with an item (silver say) the only item which will automatically be picked up is silver, blocking ones inventory to unwanted items. Easy-peasy. fill you inventory with many 1 stacks so its blocked =)

I do what Gunther suggests. I put at least 1 silver or copper, depending what I am mining into each empty slot in my inventory. I do leave one slot open for stone, then when it is maxed I stack it nearby. I am always repairing dilapidated towers and houses, in which I place portals, so stone & wood always tend to find its way into a construction project.

A good alternative would be the Trash Items mod which adds a small trashcan to your inventory screen. You can just drag and drop the stones/eyes/whatever as needed.

A vanilla solution (no mods) is to break up existing stacks of loot (I use arrows) until there are no free slots in your bag. If you happen across an item you actually want to pick up (but can't for lack of slots) you simply combine one of the many split stacks. This keeps all unwanted crap out of your bags.
Its an ad hoc loot filter

Can hit V to turn off auto-loot.. then can manually target and pick up what you want.. or only turn it on when your next to things you want to hover up en masse..
