Max out the best Armor you can make, the Leather not the Rags, then max out your Crude bow, make 100 arrows, then max out your Shield and Flint Ax, you should be going good now, learn to block/parry and get good with the bow. Farm Boars and Deer's all day and night if need and like said above stay in the Meadows till all the above is max level, then make sure you are eating Deer/boar meat and Neck tails for your first 2 food slots then the 3rd can be what ever fruit/shrooms you want. should be in good shape also carry a Torch.
Max out as in upgrade them, you will need as lot of leather and Flint to do this, because you will need to make extra crafting upgrades like the tanning rack etc

I'm not sure how much extra i can add.
But here goes:
I suspect we have all been there when we first started. Born naked find wood , then stone etc.,
make an axe as early as you can it doubles as a weapon and a means of getting extra wood from chopping down trees.
Stick to the beech trees initially as your source of wood.
Build four walls and basic shelter.
collect some stones so you can build a fire to go with your shelter
give the fire some cover as well as ventilation
make a bed. collect / kill sources of food (eat regularly)
stick to the meadows, level up, improve weapons and armour.
once you have done this for a while you will have the experience , the skills, the weapons and the armour to venture into the black forest
You defeat the first boss before you you can create a pick-axe and mine ore
read some of the how to guides .
once you play for while, you will probably end up like a lot of us " totally addicted"

You could also play with friends and be the builder/hunter while they do the exploring and bringing you the resources needed. I haven't been on in a bit but if you ever need a hand just shoot me a msg or something and I don't mind giving a hand from time to time.

I get it. It sounds amusing now, but in my first play through the Black Forest really was scary, especially if you're dressed in rags, your best weapon is a wooden stick and you have a good chance of dying if you're attacked by multiple enemies.
After getting tired of running back to the meadows every time it started to get dark, I carried some wood and food, and quickly built a small shelter before nightfall. "Immediately" threw down a few walls to stay safe, then a fireplace. Some of the monsters may see you and try to attack but as long as you've got 4 walls up, you're safe and the most they can do is attack the walls and you can easily repair. (As long as it's not a troll, but let's ignore that for now). Eventually you'll build your roof and they wouldn't be able to see you or even know you're there.
Having a safe haven in the middle of the Black Forest to retreat to was very helpful to getting used to it. No more scary Black Forest.

How do you do that? So if you want to play the game as a builder, hunter gatherer with out combat, enable Devcommands and ghost. You can interact with everything around you but mobs will not see you. I
Used it after getting killed in the plains when I was not strong enough to be there or get my stuff back.
You need to enable them through Steam, it’s disabled by default. Once enabled hit F5, type devcommands, you will get a warning to be careful, then type ghost. Lower case. I forget how to enable through Steam, google it, pretty easy. How do you do that? So if you want to play the game as a builder, hunter gatherer with out combat, enable Devcommands and ghost. You honestly take the words outta my mouth, a few weeks ago though. I am too afroad to do anything... The Black Forest is too scary so I cant even get resources that are from the black forest. Can anyone help me?
Had the same feeling towards the black forest at the beginning of venturing in there, but there is real payoff coming from that uncomfortable feeling once you advance.
When you have better gear, food and skills the black forest becomes a real nice place,
instead of the dreadful deathtrap it is for a time. Then you eventually yearn for it when
you have to spend much time in those horrible, awful swamps.
Setting moods is a strenght of this game.

The game has a very forgiving parry mechanic and roll invincibility. Maybe practice on the greylings in the meadow until you gain some confidence. Also, use a bow and arrow to draw over mobs or trolls to a safer area for fighting. Don't just charge in. Before you know it, you can get overwhelmed with enemies.
Also also what ♥♥♥♥ said: better armor/food/weapons=less stress.
Oh wow they censored f. o. o. k.

Just keep progressing and upgrading your gear.
The higher your ability to fight back the less scary this world is.
Also find someone else to play together.

I think you should play by step. Level up your gears. That frightened stuff will happen in every new biome, just take it easy and again get inside by step. make sure having a safe place where to hide first and then get into.
If Valheim is that terrible, what would you think of The Forest :)

Or if you don’t want to cheat, stay in the meadows during the day and hunt dear and lizards and pickup flint along the coast and level you armor and weapons. Then you will feel safer in the Black Forest ( during the day)

Go to the vendor and buy Joo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensitive Sunglasses, then you wont worry about it any more.
Seriously though, the black forest is nothing to be worried about really, upgrade your gear, use your bow, and don't be afraid to run. The troll is easily outran, if you eat food.
