Game's a grind

At least add the separate rug comfort levels back, I just lost two minutes of my rested time dudes. Why would you lower the quality of life for your players like this when there's already mass hysteria on the difficulty and grind of the game to begin with?
It just sucks, it's the small things like losing those 6 minutes out of every hour that suck the most.

Honestly, I think this game got too much attention to fast and at this point, I wish I never played it.

The game is fantastic until you get to the Plains, when farming (like actual farming with the cultivator) suddenly goes from an advantage you have to being mandatory for progression.

This about more than rugs, this about a fundamental flaw in the design of the game and the outlook of the developers, the flaw being rigid progression and mandatory grinding. At the end of the game what do you have? The same viking as everyone else except with a different melee weapon preference because everyone needs to use bows. It's supposed to be this unique experience but everyone is having the same experience.

In closing, Valheim has become what gamers once thought Dark Souls was, unreasonable difficulty for difficulty's sake. The difference? Dark Souls actually made you grow as a player. People can beat Dark Souls without ever leveling up their character or even getting gear. Can you play Valheim like that? No way man, because it's not skill based, it's numbers based.

I don't think that's a fixable issue, so I'm stuck with a game that had a ton of potential that will never be able to see that potential through because the developers idea of difficult is "This task takes at least 3 hours to complete" or "You must collect items to upgrade your gear so go for a walk around the map for a few hours to find it"

It's only difficult to my patience. It's difficult like my child having a tantrum at the mall, not like slaying a dragon.

Welp, first of all:

Early Access Game

And second, it's not dark souls, why do people keep comparing it to dark souls ? Literally 1 thing in common an that's stamina lmao, nothing else is like dark souls.

Even in dark souls you had to walk around, find & grind smiting stones to upgrade your gear. Are you that forgetful ? Dark souls had meta sets & builds where at end game everyone wore the same exact same clothes and weapons with same exact STATS lmao. Bro your whole criticism sounds exactly like a"child throwing a tantrum at the mall"

I did wonder why each more successively luxuriant rug didn't give a little more (like +30s)

No, fair newcomer. Your humble meadows fort will always mean something to you and with Portals, it never need become obsolete. I don't want to sour your particular experience, this particular thread is to make a point to players who've been around for a while; and to hopefully get this so called 'bug' reversed because it's non-sensical. Deer rug at the door, wolf rug at the bed, lox rug in front of the fire. Doesn't seem like a rug emporium to me.

No they are not, not even close. Those are ACTUAL games. This is not. Not yet.

This is a really good working proof of concept. Nothing more.

It's amateur at best. Comparing to Dark Souls or MC 2 of the best games ever is laughable. Hilarious.

If you think Valheim even comes close or compares to those games or is even near the same level you probably don't know what you're talking about. You just really like the "game" which isn't a full game. And that's great. Like whatever you want. We don't have to though.
I guess you didn't play Minecraft way back in the Notch days before Microsoft acquired it. And no Valheim is not hard. Far from it.

678 days/2 days per hour = 339 hours of play.
I'd have to assume your comfort was 25 dropped down to 20 but without knowing it's going to be a little inaccurate. (my original math was comfort level 22 dropped down to 20)
So, you lost 5 minutes every 20 minutes, 15 minutes an hour.
15min/hr lost x 339 hrs played = 5085 minutes of rested lost, divide by 60.
You've lost 84 hours and 45 minutes of rested time.

Edit: I may have messed that up somehow, doesn't seem right

The devs want the game to be hard, and they considered the rugs stacking a bug.

It actually is in most cases, unless you're willing to dedicate 3 inventory slots to stamina potions. But when you're deep into the wild and your closest portal is too far, the best course of action is to quickly make a fire (you can find stones and wood everywhere) and sit next to it for 8 minute buff. If there's a storm, find a natural shelter or find more wood.

First off, I know it's an early access game, that's why I'm giving feedback. Do you enjoy copy and pasting redundant information or something?

And second, I'm not comparing it to Dark Souls, I'm comparing it to the opinion of the difficulty level of Dark Souls during it's release back in 2011. We know the difference between difficult because you need to improve and difficult because the developers want to artificially increase the difficulty of their game.

In short, learn how to properly identify the subject in a sentence instead of just assuming that it's the first proper noun you read.

good points OP. calmly walking around a tree in a circle while 2 druegr archers, a blob and and an axe draugr follow behind you, missing all thier swings, while you get a drip of stamina so you can swing one more time; basically proves how stupid the stamina and combat system is in this game. it would be indefensible, but with the white-knighting this game receives, it will never be adjusted.

fat, twinkie eating, pot smoking developers, that get out of breath when they take their garbage to the corner... shouldnt be making stamina systems in video games.
