Boars in a constant state of "frightened"
I'm trying to tame some boars again (my stock got killed in a goblin raid).
Have done it many times before, and yet this time it doesn't work. They won't eat cause they're frightened constantly. No fires or enemies nearby. Tamed boars before in that very same spot.
Any ideas what could cause this?

Hmmm so perhaps wild boar in moat was close enuf to aggro the tamed ones.... totally guessing but i might try that out..

This is true, found this out randomly when hovering over items in my build menu that require the forge. The forge was lighting up and creating a fire that made the comfort level buff show. To be serious for a moment, if you don't have any fires or enemies nearby, how close is your forge? I've read that when you're using the forge it counts as a flame source, but I can't 100% confirm whether that's true or not. May be worth moving your forge a little ways away if that's the case.
Hope you get it sorted out and those piggies calm down!

So, I filled in a part of the moat and extended the barn over it. While I was doing that I came across a random boar which I lured into the barn, over the filled moat. That one tamed just fine.
I then set the other two *bugged* boars free, and lured them in the barn again, over the ground, and now they're taming properly.
So the issue seems to be moat/ground related after all.
I'll make sure to put one pair safely under lock and key, too.

I doubt it was travelling over the moat.. i would move their pen away from fires, lox and as advised forges smelters etc or (Halstein and the trader wards..(ticket lodged for non breeding boars n wolves) ) you slowly can work out what it is by moving them a few times till when they are NOT frightened.. they dont seem to eat yellow mushrooms so thats interesting concept @PakaNoHida .. i have backup animals a long way from base in case of epic failure! :-) edit: you may have a lurker..after raid events a skel or drauger may be in moat or similar?

Have you scrubbed the blood off the ground after the other boars perished in the goblin raid? Hell, I'd be scared too!

Can't find my scrubbing tool. Must've misplaced it somewhere.

Hmmm don't think it's the force.
The only thing I can think about is this: I had to *gently force them* over a wooden floor over my moat. Boars are very reluctant to go over this, at least in my experience.
With the previous (now RIP) boars the moat wasn't finished so they could reach their barn over land instead of over a wooden bridge.
Could that be a thing?

This may or may not work in your case, but I had a similar thing happen. After I restarted the game, initially they were still frightened, but then in just a second or two went back to acclimatizing.
Also, just a general suggestion, one thing I do at my main base is keep a backup pair of both wolves and boars inside my main structure, well away from anything that might aggro them (especially the wolves, since they will chew their way out) in tiny boxes.
I mostly did this because I wasn't sure about the new Bat event and how they'd handle it with my breeding boxes up on the top floor. (Predictably, the wolves broke out; unpredictably, they died rather easily [even for no-stars].)

The food can cause it if yellow mushrooms are near.
