I have only played solo and I enjoy it as well. You can log in whenever you want. Do whatever you want. Explore wherever you want etc. While I play mod free you may want to use a few to help lower the tedium of certain things if it gets to be a bear to simulate a partner. Hope that helps you decide.

The game is perfectly playable solo. You get to make unilateral choices on where and how to build. You can advance your progression as you are ready; no need to rush to keep up or slow down to wait for others. You only need enough materials to meet your needs. Meanwhile, you can listen to the soundtrack without being interrupted.

Playing with others can also be a good experience; it just hits differently. If you don't have friends or a group on hand to play with, there exist places online to find others.

Since you've played the game and know what it has and offers in the game play experience, you should already be well aware of what would be required to play it solo. If that doesn't seem likely then just roughly double what you perceive to be the challenges you previously experienced and use that as a base bench mark.

Also, a simple search on here would've provided you with lots of threads on people playing solo too of course.

I've only played solo. Had a lot of fun. I like exploring the map. Pushing the boundary of the known ever outward. I guess if you ever die in a bad spot and you're with someone else, you have some backup to get your stuff back. If you're alone, you have no help. You may need to play a bit more conservatively... and may have some harder corpse runs...

To each there own, I found this game awesome playing solo, wouldn't even want to play with others. When you play solo you get to go at your own pace which is very nice in a game like this.

Btw, sorry to hear about your fiance.

1000+ of my hours are all solo. Very fun.
