I assumed the same but refrained from answering because I've never played any Gamepass/X-Box stuff. -> How do you know that / what's your source? (just out of curiosity)

I can't quote any specific source at the moment, it's just based mostly on other posts scattered around and a bit on things I kind of remember from when I was considering getting back into programming as a hobby some time back (I had some ideas for games that I wanted to try my hand at) and researching how different multiplayer platforms were set up. [deep recovery breath] Microsoft's was my first - and last when I realized that it had been so long since I've done any code that I just wasn't seeming to totally wrap my head around it.

no they do, that's what the join code in the pause menu is for alongside the server list.

i just think they can't start them, it requires the tool for the dedicated server which is only on pc.

According to the official Crossplay FAQ[www.valheimgame.com]:

1. you can join a dedicated server from an Xbox console just as normal, provided that both your Xbox and the server have crossplay enabled.
   
2. You can't set up a dedicated server on an Xbox.
   
3. If you have the game through the Microsoft store your (dedicated server) files will be stored in the following folder: C:\XboxGames\Valheim\Content\Server

1. This is an oxymoron in my opinion because joining a server "just as normal" equals joining directly via FQDN/IP:port (to me) which is in direct conflict with "requiring crossplay".
So no - they can't join a server vie FQDN/IP:port

2.+3. You were ~2/3rds right. Xbox can't but GP can run dedicated servers.

... perhaps it just isn't ready, yet. There have been numerous issues with crossplay on PC, as of the recent patch, so it might have been removed for the sake of the devs' stress levels.
