Help Taming Wolf
I caught my first wolf and I'm not seeing any % when I select him and it's been a few days. I had to use log walls because they tore through the stick fences like it weren't even there. How close do you have to be to see the %?

Make sure you have heaps of meat lying around, they eat like crazy once they start breeding. I struggled big time and was always hunting. I swear they breed more than those boars :D
Ideally one should get their starred boars in a 'factory setup. This will provide all the meat you need for a wolf factory. I brought my computer down to 12 fps by not keeping the number of critters under 200. Now I stick to around 40-50 each. Just tamed and bred my 1st lox but with cloudberries not farmable (in unmodded) I'm still deciding what to do with them.......

I stopped wasting my time on using any fencing for taming, i just dig a deep enough hole to trap them in, let them chase me into it with one end of the hole open, jump out and close it up...then i just throw meat in and wait... Way i do mine is dig a pit, trap them in it,add 3 stacks of food, say good night to game, when you come back in morning they are tame,,.real life time not game time

I did this about 3 times and believe me . Wait to you pull it it off succesfully and then an 'event' happens and all the wolves die . I finally went hunting at night and used the 'tame ' command after building a rather large corral to keep them in . A little cheezy i know , but I had wasted a lot of time trying to do it within the mechanics . Tamed them and walked them back to the homestead , fed them well and they multiplied like rabbits . I am highest level atm and have killed all bosses so i get some pretty tough attacks that can wipe out a lot of my star wolfs .

I dug a ditch to hold mine, and as about you gotta stay close for a couple of 'Days' but dont agro. Plenty of food, deer and boar meat. The normal wolves are a bit easier than the night/star ones thats for sure

That is probably my biggest complaint about taming. <outside of recent insane boar running around ... but the taming process itself>
In order to check you practically have to allow yourself to be seen and stop the taming process. Sure you can build around with that idea in mind from the start but it seems very counter intuitive.
They really should expand the range you can see that from.

1. Pits tend to be better since they cant rip them.
2. Also just to be clear, you've dropped raw meat on the ground next to them to eat (not 1 at a time just drop a stack)? If you see the heart floating above them then they're taming.
3. Dont' worry about looking to see their tame % look to make sure they've consistently got the heart floating.
4. If you get too close and they give a sort of growl sound, that interferes with their taming. You dont need to be super super close. They can detect you through walls sometimes unfortunately so this is why you need to keep a decent distance(this includes an adjacent pit. I suspect the detection is actually a sphere radius in relation to them but I could be wrong.
5. In relation to 4, dont have other tames near for similar reasons.
6. Depending on if there are no interruptions my experiences have been 2-3 days or nights(for starred wolves) in game from the point of the starting of the taming process.

As close as you could pet him.
As long as he has food (boar meat) and the little green hearts are going up above him, the taming progresses. It stops if he is afraid ( the ! above him) or has no food or you are out of the area. You need to stay in render range.
