99% of this game is just running around trying to find poorly tinted rocks
I have spent hours looking for copper in the black forest and I can only ever find like 2 chunks. Then I mine half of it and my bags are full so I have to run back to my base and unload then run back again. But wait there is cold and stamina constantly drains slowing you down. Why is such a tedious game given Overwhelmingly Positive reviews?

Having a hard time taking this thread seriously. As someone (me) who has finished the game (all the current content) nearly a dozen times... exclusively solo-vanilla, and have played on 50-60 different map seeds (or more)... have never had any issues finding copper nodes in Black Forest, as you are describing.
Here is just one example of one map where i dug out underneath an Elder altar, making a 100% safe base / workshop underneath, This is where i smelt and craft my bronze bars etc...
The thing i want to point out, is that on the little "radar" at the top, that each of those dots is a copper node... that's 8 copper nodes in just the surrounding area from where I am standing (inside my base). This is fairly representative of how much copper I usually find on any given map.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2434836833
So... copper is not "rare"... You just have to go to each rock, and the cursor will indicate if it is copper, as well as have bits of "metal" in it's texture...
Now, to address the "cold and stamina drain".... If you are having issues with these things then you are not taking care of your stamina properly.... You should be "full" at all times, with 3 foods, which determines your HP and Stamina "pool". and replace the foods (eat more) as they expire. You should also have a "rested bonus" at all times, which gives a huge buff to stamina regeneration and some HP regeneration rates. Spending a couple minutes by a fire will give the rested bonus. If the bonus goes away, get by a fire to refresh it.
Always WALK, instead of doing a lot of running and jumping, as these will deplete stamina very quickly. The only time you should be running or jumping is to escape mobs.
"Cold" only happens at night or while it's raining, and one shouldn't really be exploring BF during those times anyhow, as additional mobs spawn at night (randomly), and the bird even warns you against it.

Its a valid point and really understandable when you consider that you should play this with several people. And even then its grindy.
What helps no matter if you are alone or in a group, set up a small camp site at the copper deposite (roofed workbench) to repair your antler pickaxe (you can repair only the antler pickaxe on a workbench, the higher one needs the smithy) and place a few fire places in your work area.

Copper is actually one of the easiest ores to identify.
Why not explore a bit more, find some large deposits and build a base there to both mine ,smelt and craft it. Set up a portal to anywhere else and you'll never have to run around again ;)
Black Forest contains a ton of copper deposits. Share your seed with a BF with only 2 deposits or it didn't happen.
As for transportation, portals, boats and carts are your friends.
I mean even when mining the ore its RNG. I have had times where I destroy a whole rock of copper and i don't get any drops. When I destroy it from the top I get copper but when I destroy it from underneath the drops seem to be random. Feels like this game just purposely wastes your time. Its a valid point and really understandable when you consider that you should play this with several people. And even then its grindy.

Copper is giant rocks and it is well buried most of the time. If you break it just on the surface, you'll think it's over. So dig around it before breaking it.

I call BS on mining a copper deposit and not getting any copper, post your seed and where you mined it. I have mined a lot of copper nodes and never seen drops that were disappointing, every node dropped a lot of copper. Gathering tin in comparison is a chore.

Reading his actual post, he seems to say some of the small breakable parts of the larger copper node didn't return any copper, which is frustrating but happens all the time.

You are going about Copper collection all wrong and iron will be harder.
An alternate idea would be find one of those towers in the BF or one of those rocks that look like Copper but are not that is near copper. Then get 4 cores create a small outpost drop a portal at the outpost. Now you can get back to base for sleeping, eating, repairing easy. Fill a box completely with copper. Once that is done make a cart fill cart take it home. Use axe break cart after empty. Take portal back to BF to hunt for Tin. Once inventory is full of tun drop cart load it keep going.
Do this and you will have a high amount of materitals in no time at all. If you can find copper by the ocean even better as the first real boat has 4 slots.
This is a survival game and so you need to learn ways to survive. It is no complicated but you do need to think outside that box sometimes. Also always good to consider alternate approaches if you find one is failing.

If you run around in a hurry all the time, you WILL miss things. You have to slow down and look around.
Also, the copper nodes, or any of them for that matter go below the surface too.
The grind is only as bad as you make it if you don't exercise proper strategy and preparation.

For some proper preparation is harder than for others. It is why I offered up the way I have been doing it in my SP playthrough. Normally on a server with friends and it is much easier that way. Like any survival game though if you can plan and execute well then you can easily survive.
I think some people play Survival Genre as the Call of Duty type games are less popular. Issue is you can not play survival like you do COD. Would never work for very long no matter how good you think you are.

Basically what I am getting at. To me, this game is more about pacing yourself and having a good plan of attack. Strategically placing fortifications and crafting sites based on material locations, etc.
Like to also say this isn't WoW. You have to search carefully. Things aren't marked with glowing outlines, !'s or ?'s. Would kill the whole point of exploring. Just like constant requests for metal portal access. That is what ships are for, besides to get from one continent or island to another. Although I have to say that carts could use some adjustments.

I agree. Total BS on mining an ENTIRE Copper node, the largest ore nodes in the game, and getting zero ore.
Furthermore, if inventory management is an issue.. build a cart. Take it with you. Put up Torches and/or a Workbench to keep things from spawning close by. Take your time mining to keep from alerting things like Trolls from showing up.
To be fair, the first Black Forest biome you encounter should be so close to your first base that running back with your pockets full of Copper is a non-issue.
Get stuck out at night? Build a Campfire underneath the ore node and just hang out. Always carry at least a stack of every food you're using so you always have your Health/Stamina at combat-ready levels. Make a makeshift building to chill under while you wait for daylight so you can keep a rested bonus.
It sounds to me like you either just lack some knowledge of the game, or are playing horribly inefficiently and expecting your hand to be held the whole time.. which is not the case with Valheim.

I would suggest actually learning how to play it and figuring out how to manage your time and stamina.
It doesn't spoon-feed you.
Also, if you've mined an "entire copper deposit" and not got any copper.... you were mining rock. Just rock.
Feel free to leave a game review in the reviews section if you're not happy that lots of people enjoy this game.

What helps no matter if you are alone or in a group, set up a small camp site at the copper deposite (roofed workbench) to repair your antler pickaxe (you can repair only the antler pickaxe on a workbench, the higher one needs the smithy) and place a few fire places in your work area.
