How to get back to Valhiem

Played 24.4 hours, killed the first 3 bosses and started building a second base. Died several times and figured out how to grab extra resources with carts and all that but have been playing ff14, warzone, and bannerlord for the past few months. Not sure if i want to get back to Valheim and really sink time again, i want to build an awesome base at a good location and push for best gear/endgame things, but i do not feel the drive to jump back in. I'm sure portals would solve a couple issues like the sheer distance. I guess the grind is what i am not looking forward to lol. Not going to mod the game or anything like that, probably just felt like venting a little before i watch a couple youtube videos of base locations and try getting back into it. If this has been read then thank you and i am sorry.

IIRC 24 hours into the game I had a couple buildings for my main base roughed in and maybe an outpost. I enjoyed the raids "Forest is moving" cause I had so many torches lit that I needed the resin drops. Had fun building my troll armour and then sailing. Have outposts on 5 continents in my first world and still haven't fought Elder yet. I used to make moats around all outposts. So digging all that took time. Main base there is fairly sprawled out now.

Started 2nd world, getting wood from 1st to keep it not having razed forests. My 2nd toon travels to first world and razes the forest on 1 of the continents, then uses to build base on 2nd world. Like the building and probably have spent 100 hours just building or getting wood to build.
Thats fair, i definitely enjoyed the feeling of learning to sail and knock out multiple trees at once. The matts i need are always so far away so after getting familiar with the nearby terrain it just becomes running back and forth. Really want to build a sick home base still so that may be my focus until i get into exploration mode. I'm not saying its boring by any means. Just need to actually get in there

The way I play is just to chill and enjoy the world, so to me its not a grind its a outing, I play around with the fights (like using the mace and swords special attack, or unarmed kicking greylings off cliffs, little things to amuse myself).
I build organically, basically start with a small cosy hut and expand as I go, making little nooks and basements and playing with the tools to make interesting sections.
I dont rush the bosses, and I didnt just bow the 1st boss, I took him on with a wooden buckler and a upgraded club and had a fun battle.

The trick is not to look at the whole, just enjoy the moments, there is no rush or limit, just have fun and the rest will take care of itself.
I even spent a evening re-building my whole house, a few beers and had a basic idea and had a blast.

A none modded trick to get ores from long places to a main base, if you dont want to boat the stuff around is to make a new world with a chest, then in your main world put all the ores onto your character and then logout, start in the new world and put the ores into the chest, then log back into your main and port to your base, log out and back to the new world and pick up the ores, then log back into your main world and the ores will be in your inventory in your base... a bit of a hassle but easier than boating the lot and doesn't need a mod.

Theres also a web site where you can generate the world map if you are struggling to find stuff in your world, just google Valheim map generator... I suggest trying to not use it though if possible.

In brief just enjoy the moment, and dont worry about getting to end game.

My 2 Gil;

put Valheim on hold until there is an update that adds some real content like the eventual Mistlands update. Then come back to the game. My group took a hiatus from the game months ago after defeating Yagluth with plans to come back to it when the Mistlands gets a boss. There is also the chance that we might need to create fresh worlds for the Mistlands update. The dev blog mentioned that the biom is getting an possible overhaul and they didn't know how it would effect existing worlds. So any big base you built now might end up being wasted effort.

Givent that FF XIV's next update Endwalkers is going live in less that 3 weeks that may help entertain you until Valheim is ready for your return :) I know I'm not going to be playing Valheim, or anything else for that mater once Endwalkers goes live.

If you're not up for modding, the best solution to grind is a second player that enjoys mining and farming games.

My GF does this for me. Downside is that she gets a wild hair to go out gathering and gets killed...a lot.

Most of my skills were in the upper 80's. Got on yesterday to see my bow leveled up to 38. :steamfacepalm:

lmao. i know how you feel cuz i'm in the same situation when we're playing with my gf.
tame some 2* wolves. breed them and make them follow her around. she'll die way less after that. at least that's what i did.

I'm sort of in the same boat except the last boss I killed was Moder and don't really feel like progressing further. It's not necessarily the grind but rather that there's very little to look forward to. In your case I don't blame you since silver mining isn't exactly fun (neither was mining iron ore) and Moder isn't a fun boss to defeat. It feels like after The Elder and a little bit after that the magic from the game is lost. I hope the devs can improve on the game so we can keep that "magic feeling" going rather than feeling like an eternal grind. The game needs better balance and more fun activities throughout. It is early access and I hope the devs will improve the "mid game" experience of the game.

Edit: (TL/DR:) Bonemass was a fun and challenging boss to defeat though. But getting there felt kinda like a huge waste of time. Moder wasn't that challenging but even more so a feel of "waste of time" and I think that burned me out. Hope that makes sense.
