5 quick tips!
-Make a seed just for your safe house with all your crafting stations. Build some chests to hold items, or whatever you want to hold your stuff. Then make a second seed just for adventuring! When you're out mining on your second seed, instead of running back to camp you can just log out, and go back to your homestead to drop ore. And then go right back to your secondary seed to go back to collecting ore. Would not do this with wood because that stuff is everywhere, only ores really unless you're working on a masterpiece base back on your safe home!
-Make a whole bunch of fall out bases (fob) where you plan on adventuring the most, and connect them all to a hub of teleports to make getting around easier. Make some cooking stations, stations to repair your armor weapons, a bed for respawns. Make sure to keep that comfort buff up as much as you can cause it's a huge deal for regen with the new food system.
-You can put fires inside of dungeons/ruins to give you a small comfort buff. It's not much but it's a big help when dealing with powerful enemies. Often you can kill them and fall back to the fire if necessary to regen and get dry. Trust me, huge advantage. Also dont forget you can log out in dungeons too and go back to seed 1 to drop off goods!
-Food food and more food! Figure out the best combo that works for you. I mostly go balanced with my comfort buff and i do pretty alright. I try to keep balanced so i mostly do one hp, one stam, and one mixed. I leave regen to the comfort buff and me making space between the enemies and myself. Most of their most sets are easy to read so barely dodging their attacks by moving at the right time to make them leave themselves open to a counter attack is ez wins. Does not apply to skeeters, destroy them on site!!!!
-Last and not least... look up seeds that have lots of materials for things that you'd like. Like iron scraps. My first few maps i could not find a ruins in the swamps and it was driving me nuts. Now you can easily find good ones by going to some website, or just looking on steam.
Most importantly, do what makes you happy in the game! It is the best way to enjoy it in my opinion. I focus more on creation than i do progressing and i'd have to say it suits me. I love to build and create big houses or mansions. I haven't even beat the game yet and i have a blast.
Hope this helps some poor soul down the line!

you don't sail 😭 but sailing back with a big haul is so thrilling. Everytime the game gives me a reason to sail I'm like "where's my boat, sailing food, harpoon, arrows, portal mats? Ah who cares I just need the boat let's go!" I don't understand why people think seed hopping is cheating when the game is literally built to work that way. The game is a multiverse and you might as well make use of it (or not) - it's not "most assuredly cheating".
I'm building a hub world to house my main base and will share that across the few characters I explore with. It's a great way to separate the base building and adventuring without all the time spent running back and forth, especially when carry weight is so limited. Collecting ore is a nightmare if you have to run home constantly to store everything.
It's no different than playing online with friends in a shared world and jumping back and forth between that and your private solo world.

Each to their own play style. Nothing capable in the game is right or wrong (cheating), so long as you did not use console commands to achieve it (my definition of cheating).
Great tips. I usually have one seed just for bosses and don't kill any bosses on any other seed. I usually use my favorite seed for creative builds and other seeds for resources so I don't strip mine my creative seed too much. The campaign line is sort of meh for me at the moment, but there's room for the dev's to do a lot with the worlds to create story content.

That's just cheating.
I prefer to go for sailing and exploring new areas where I build outposts etc.
Then I build teleport there if place is nice or worthy then I sail back to my main land.
You only have to sail back if you are loaded with ores. Otherwise you can just tear down the ship, pick up the mats, go through portal and build it anew at your main base to go explore in other directions.

Safety portals. I have a portal in one house named safety. I carry the materials for a crafting table and a portal on me. Every so often, I'll drop the safety portal in a fairly hidden area. If I die, I can use that for a jump start in recovering my body. Also allows me to empty inventory when it's too full as well.

Yeah i guess it is a bit. It just saves me a lot of time bringing the ore all the way back to my forges which are usually a good distance away. Then having to melt the into ore. Plus the instant repairs are lovely and the huge food supply you can have accumulated.
I wouldn't do it on a multiplayer server just a solo play through since you don't have someone at base constantly making stuff. Its nice to have someone run the smelter and furnace when you do have a team.
I seen people complain about having to go back and sail to get ores, etc to transport them since they can't be teleported. Simple quick and easy fix to that as well.
I mean to each their own, it is most assuredly cheating but if that's how you want to play the game I don't really see a problem given it's not hurting anyone.
I would point out though that logistical challenges are a pretty core part of the gameplay challenge, so for me that portion is more rewarding to engage in, as it feels satisfying to haul a shipload of metal back across the ocean, dodging / fighting sea serpents along the way.
But again, play it how you like. If you want to save yourself the hassle of world hopping though I'd recommend getting one of the mods that lets you move metal through portals.

Its a single player game, most of the time, so play as you will, but the game aint that harsh as is so .... unless you are world hopping to transfer ores/bars why bother ?
I can make a home world, a adventure world, a boss kill world.., yeah we can do this, but that just makes its too easy.
You can do it, and if that is fun for you ... go for it. I make a world to ore/ignot hop at most.

Once they make it so you can teleport ore, i agree. I don't normally do mods myself because they usually cause problems with the games each update and if the creator don't keep up can cause problems. When the last update hit it was pretty funny how fast the forums got lit up with the game crashing.
Also doesn't help that the ores weigh an insane amount so you can only carry 30 at a time of copper and i forget off the top my head what iron scraps weight is. Hopefully the devs get on this but with how long it took for the last update we'll see.

Ores are not gonna be allowed to be teleported because delivering them to your base with ship is core part of the game mechanics.
Risk of dying at sea etc adds up tension and in the end is very rewarding experience.

Along those lines, if you get into a jam you can quickly log out and log into a safe seed. You can then recover your hp and stamina and switch back. All the enemies will still be around but you might have just enough hp and stamina to survive.
In your main base, make an extra portal and label it 'new' or sonthing. In your other seed put the mats for a portal in a chest. If you wander very far and can't get back easily for whatever reason, swap seeds to get the portal mats, build a portal, then label it 'new' or whatever so you can safely come back.
Alternatively, if you get stuck and are likely to die from falling or enemies, put all your stuff in a chest in another seed, switch back and kill yourself so you can get back to your base immediately without having all your loot stuck up on Mount everest.
