Heard that higher star mobs spawn more often further out from spawn. My anecdotal experience agrees, travel farther out.

Insta-kill seems a bit excessive. What food were you using, what armor? Wolves are a threat if they manage to gang up on you and stagger lock you, but that's about it.

Mobs will shred through structures to get to you if they know you're there. The three little pigs can't hide in their sticks, you have to come out and fight that wolf. Or just jump on a rock, he's not terribly bright.

72 armor (full wolf hide lvl 2), silver shield. Sausages, black soup, onion soup. One block half fills my stagger meter. I got attacked by two.

"Unexpected things happen" is part of valheim though. I got instakilled by a 2 star wolf that might as well have spawned with it's teeth around my backside, taking a path I'd taken several times before. It sucks but I just slept, grabbed my corpse, and kept going.

Don't go out at night if you can't handle it.

i've got iron gear and i'm literally farming wolves as we speak. both normal ones and 1-star ones, in an attempt to find and tame a 2-star.

You can trap this wolf and tame him.

Well you know what? Thank God the devs said they're adding difficulty settings to the game so we don't get threads like this anymore. although I somehow feel like we'll still get threads like this.

1 star isnt bad just parry them. a 2 star will stun lock you. try different weapons (battleaxe and atgier handle them nicely)
