Taming boars; do you need a night cycle?

I'm in the mid- game, I find the days are too short so I use tod .5 to give me time to do stuff. But I'm noticing my boars are not taming very well. They have stacks of food available. I'm curious if boar taming is linked to a day/ night cycle, or just a timer. Anyone have a clew?

As Shurenai stated, the boars needed proximity. I was off gallavanting, so they were not taming. I stuck around long enough to log every tree in the area and had to change my portal name from 'Shady Meadows Hog Farm' to 'Sunny Meadows Hog Farm'. But now I have two happy, 1 star piggies in a pen full of berries and shrooms, and I'm just waiting for the bacon wagon to start rolling. TY all for your feedback.

I use the floaty hearts as a visual indicator of 'being close enough'...

I don't think the time taming is wasted either, practice your Sneaking while taming your livestock. I usually wall in their enclosures and sneak back and forth just outside the enclosure while the taming process churns.

the area with your boars just has to be "loaded" and running, you don't have to be close.. visual range is a good boundary.. if you can theoretically see to where they are (if there were no hills or trees in the way), the boars should be taming and breeding, and also under threat of attack.. you can be over on the other side of your house chopping down trees and picking berries or whatever..

Taming and breeding don't care about ingame time passed, only real time passed.

However, they DO care about the area being loaded. If your boar farm is far from your base, Or if you're just not spending much time at your base, they'll tame extremely slowly and waste lots of extra food doing so.

Every piece of food is time based and roughly 33~% tame progress normally. It only progresses taming if the area is loaded- But still counts down the timer no matter what. So if you feed them and then leave on an exploration expedition, most of that timer gets wasted.

So basically, feed your boars and then stay nearby.

Taming I think also has to do with keeping them calm and they would get agro whenever I approached so I built a barrier wall so that my approach was out of there line of sight.

boars don't reproduce based on your game time - just real time.

A lot of times I played with day/night cycle turned off and just have it set to stay at noon. they reproduce at the same rate.

Pretty sure it's just a timer, but yeah you've likely made it take twice as long with your adjustment.
