Valheim Creative Mode
After a few hundred hours in game, several playthroughs, and who knows how many trees chopped down, rocks mined, and greydwarves killed my attention has switched primarily to construction. Anyone who has done any significant building in Valheim knows the snapping system is, uhm, imperfect, and building along the waters edge for a proper dock is extra challenging. Also, who loves nighttime and heavy fog when trying to build?
Through the use of a few mods I've been able to mostly replicate a "creative mode" interface for pure building. I'm not going to get into a debate about mods, If you lack the self control to not use features of a mod you don't want to use then the problem isn't the mod. I've used various mods for dozens of games so it's not a challenge for me getting them installed. YMMV. That being said, uhm, yay mods?
Anyway, here's a rundown of the tools I use for a (more) proper creative mode.
#1 Build Camera (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/226) The most important of the tools, it adds a free floating build camera which moves around independent of your viking avatar. You need to be in range of a workbench, but the functionality works with the hoe as well as the hammer.
#2 WeMod (https://www.wemod.com/) Among other options WeMod allows you to remove all crafting requirements so you can free build, and can increase your carry capacity for cleaning up the materials generated by correcting build mistakes. It can also make you invisible to mobs so they don't pester you while building and/or "god mode" so you don't get beat up on while you're floating off somewhere else using Build Camera.
#3 Rune Magic (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/1359) While it has other features, there are two we care about the most. First, it is able to perfectly level the ground in a large circular area. Second it can return any area to it's original pristine state.
#4 Heightmap Unlimited (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/359) This will increase the upper and lower height boundaries for building/digging, configurable on how much.
#5 Extended Daytime (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/38) It's not all clear weather and constant light, but it does increase the time available to build without the annoyance of weather effects and darkness.
#6 Hoe Radius (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/1199) Add scroll wheel control to shrink/enlarge to hoe radius. Because who doesn't like a big hoe?
#7 Trash Items (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/441) Adds a trashcan to your inventory dialog to quickly destroy items (for all the mess you make fixing your mistakes).
Cool but not necessarily desired:
Seafloor Walking Boots (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/1580) Before Build Camera I used boots which let you walk on the see floor and breath underwater. Sort of redundant to Build Camera unless you are looking to start a build out under the ocean (because you can't build a workbench in the middle of the ocean for Build Camera to work).
More Gates (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/1087) Adds several new doors & gates along with windows and a few other items. I expect this mod may break after a game update leaving gaps in my builds, but they are cool so I do still use them here and there, though I try and minimize that.
Would be cool if IronGate would integrate some of this functionality into Valheim.
Anyway, I hope some of you builders find this useful!

you are missing the point. its about the build. saying that it takes no skill to be a builder because you dont farm for the ressources is like saying that a painter that buys paint instead of making it himself is no artist Cheats, debugmode, mods...it's all the same really...no skill required. What an uninspired competition.
You have to know I am talking about flying...most the skill in building is not failing. Having resources be the limiting factor in a build competition is hardly fair. In fact I think predetermining the amount of resources to be used would make for an interesting rule in a competition, to see what people come up with using the same amount of material.

The 'no mods' rule could use a little clarification. Like, if you're doing a group build and someone joins the server with that hack that activates dev commands, or ontrigger's Performance Optimizations, does that disqualify your entry?

Probably not that many tbh. Valheim mods have been pretty good at staying functional or failing gracefully through the updates we've seen so far. Well good job, but man you are going to have issues when the next update comes out.

You are welcome. When the contest is over and you want to free build to see what is possible you'll be all set. Good luck with the contest! Well, this builder doesn't use mods, especially since the contest that is on going right now flat out says not to use mods... but thank you?

Good mod tips. I use mods in Fallout 4 from Nexus mods but have yet to try some here.
Because I am paranoid of braking my game I only use console commands:
-console (added to properties)
(f5 and type) devcommands (enter) debugmode (enter)
Then I can hit B key to turn on unlimited materials.
ALsu click Z key to turn fling on/off.
Also I use (f5 and type) RemoveDrops to remove all the resources dropped on the ground in your area.
I just go to sleep when its dark or spam a bunch of torches.

build camera is a good idea. for the rest i mainly use sktoolbox (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/8)
useful commands for building from sktoolbox :
/nocost allows to craft and build everything without needing ressources
/infstam infinite stamina
/fly
/env allows you to set the weather
/tod allows you to control the daylight cycle
/god invulnerability
/revealmap shows the entire map. very useful if you are looking for the perfect spot
if you want to keep your builds compatible with vanilla clients but also build freely without worrying about build height spawn highstones or similar prefabs as foundation when needed
otherwise you can also use /nosup to disable the building support requirements
2 more useful mods that dont break compatibility with the vanilla game:
Repetitive parts -> BuildShare (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/5)
if you are working on big projects with repetitive parts you can misuse sth like BuildShare to load, save, copy and paste parts or entire sections of your structures and preview changes which can be a huge time saver
Want to plant bushes, mushrooms ? -> Plant everything (https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/1042)
