Best weapon to pair with parrying metal buckler?
Currently I am using a sword and bronze buckler. I'm intending to play a parry build, but i'm not sure which weapon pairs well with that playstyle. Any suggestions?

Spears are the top weapon to farm loxs , if u parry them u blast them with 3 combos ( 9 hits ) with the fang spear , only shines in that way I have had excellent results from using a shield for parrying alongside a Porcupine, which is currently the most advanced mace weapon. Blunt weapons are a must-have in the swamp. To date, no enemy is weak to slashing damage, so swords and axes underperform. I have found spears to have an unwieldy attack swing. For mainly piercing damage, I'd rather just use a bow.
The Porcupine deals a roughly even split of blunt and piercing damage. As a result, enemies which resist one of those types are typically vulnerable to the other, meaning that the weapon does better damage overall. Frostner may outperform it against the undead, but those only figure prominently in the swamp. Once you can build a Frostner, the swamp is no longer a challenge.
As a last added bonus, the secondary (middle button) one-handed mace attack swings in an uppercut motion which has the ability to hit enemies which are located below your typical swing. This is great for attacking downhill or into shallow water.
And frostner is a CC weapons in plains , the perma frost debuff make fulings an easy enemy , you need that when u are sorounded with 2* and 1 * greenys , and if them are wet from swimming makes more damage than porcupine ( makes the normal frost damage to critical frost damage )

Ooh, alright, I'll remember to work on maces as well, I've never made it past early-game and it seems that primary weapon maces and secondary weapon swords perform well overall through the game. Thank you!

I'd say go with blunt until the plains. Skeletons, swamp undead, bonemass and mountain golems are weak to blunt, but I think a sword is better on the plains maybe. I've found that skill influences damage output so train both if you intend to switch.

Gonna have to agree with the Blunt damage reply .
However, the game isnt hard enough to concern your self too much about damage/weapon choice. There just isnt a need for meta gaming in Valheim yet, lmao.
Keep high quality food on hand and there is nothing you cant do.

Swords are the best overall weapons due to their high attack speed and low stamina cost. However if your target is weak to blunt, use mace.

Any. However the most common weakness and least common resistance is Blunt, meaning currently Maces are the go to weapon.
Keep in mind when H&H drops its reworking how blocking works.
The next teaser video that should drop tomorrow morning should have more details on it.

Personally I go with a mace type. When I do get a sword I wait for the silver sword, but by that point in the game it's a bit late to change up.
Some people like the spear but I never got into one. Maybe in the new areas not out yet they might have an enemy resistant to blunt and pierce <bow> and status effects it might be better to work up slash... but at this point with the current enemies I just see no reason to use a sword. If I need slash I can always use an ax.
