BOATS AND MOUSE 3
I am recently in debate about dismantling boats with mouse 3. I used to be able to ....say 3 weeks ago..... but now ...i cannot.....some say they have never been able to mouse 3 and dismantle a boat... Have i lost my mind and i just imagined the mouse 3 boat dismantle? or doe someone know wtf i am typing about!!!......please help me..../us

Maybe you could dismantle them just after construction before they were pushed or boarded and became a physics object?

NOPE! It never worked with mouse 3. You've to destroy it manually.

TS is right. I used to dismantle boats year ago or so, now it does not work. So devs changed it. Have no idea why.

Yes you definitely “used” to be able to dismantle boats.
And you still can : it is and always has been accomplished with and an axe or other such weapon of destruction.
Middle click has never worked , been playing since launch.

You definitely used to be able to dismantle boats. Needs to be in range of a workshop though. We always used to dismantle between use because storms would wreck em and the material would be too far underwater to recover.

Definitely has never been a thing since I've started playing. Even in the first builds I remember having to smack the boats to destroy them, because I'd always have to use a hoe to raise the earth under them to keep my hits from pushing them out into the ocean again.

I tested it out a couple weeks ago in case I wanted to move a boat across land quickly by deconstructing it with mouse 3. The test was successful. Apparently I’m insane?

It makes sense to think anything built with the hammer should dismantle but I have no memory of this ever working with carts, rafts or boats. I expect they're a different type of game object to all the other build pieces, more akin to mobs than terrain items.

It might have existed in a really early build and been removed for easier debugging, or you were on a modded server or hitting them with godmode?
