Silver

I'm curious of opinion or options. I work 7 days a week because I like money, so simply having to work to find silver in this game killed this game for me. Thoughts? Enjoyed the building and the swamps, but this silver thing.. Killed the game for me

There are loads of silver out there. Easy finds at the top of most high points/peaks. Usually multiple veins at the top.

I looked by searching visually when i first played until i heard about using stagbreaker/hammer weapon. After that i laughed at how much i found. It's very plentiful.

I reckon silver will be less of a chore if they introduce some higher tier light armour down the line, which I reckon seems likely.

Even still, I much preferred it to bronze as the process of finding silver and moving it made me feel like I was actually playing.
Mining is mining of course, but at least you don't need 3 ores and 3 coals to a single ingot. And you don't need to be as methodical since the deposits and their individual pieces aren't nearly as massive.

Also I’d say keep an eye out for old prospector cabins to start your search. Every one I’ve ran across has silver in the nearby area.

Seems odd that you would be concerned about putting time in for silver when you have likely already put in some time in for copper, tin, iron, obsidian, and maybe even chitin. Silver isn't hard, take the potions at first, but kill a bunch a wolves and make a cloak so you don't need them anymore.

I found my first silver by chance, sinking trenches to trip up the stone golems.

That being said? None of them are hard to find.
You don't like the wishbone? You could always try the sledgehammer trick (iron or stagbreaker), where you smack the ground where you *think* silver might be and look for "too hard" that indicate the exact location of a vein.

i had a *much* harder time finding the Vegvisir runestones for Moder and Yagluth.

Combo of using both always seems to be very effective, wishbone for general location and then smack around a bit to pin point its location instead of trying to pin point it with the wishbone.

silver is supposed to be hard to find. and when you do find it, there's usually MANY silver veins. there isn't any joy in easily finding things. the best things in life are the ones you have to work hard for. that's why i only go after married women.

Seems like this may not be a game for you. However you don't need that much silver if you just craft what you want/need. Personally I found bronze to be the worst because you need two different metals to make it. I also understand finding copper and tin is way easier than silver. Use the stagbreaker for a good way if you haven't killed Bonemass yet. No one will fault you if you use a mod to portal the metals or to increase your QOL due to your circumstances.

Isn't silver equipment the easiest stuff to make?
step 1, find a large mountain
step 2, have anti freeze mead
step 3, make a small camp on top of the mountain,
step 4, equip the wishbone and look around a bit
step 5, profit in less then 10 seconds.

This has worked for me in every map i made.

Find the tallest mountains. Profit. 3 veins or less will net you all the silver you need. I found plenty more than that all within a hundred meters of the moder spawn. Silver is like the least grindy ore you have to mine.

Survival games by their nature take time and effort. If you don't have free time then you would be better off picking a game genre made for casual short play periods.
