Burnout

Does anyone else get burned out really fast in this game?

Don't get me wrong but I love the building so I spend too long in a biome but I feel like so many systems in this game aree just a chore against the player.

Take just farming carrots, what a chore it is to plant them all, harvest them all, replant as seed crops, harvest them all, replant to now get more carrots...then feed the bores.

The mining game is also so tedious, dying takes away hours of progress ect so I find I never make it past the swamps because that's when all these tedious systems really just ramp upwards.

Just me?

Play the game with valheim plus mod. It lets you modify resource drops among other things. Seriously, the grind in this game is insane and the the time it takes to do basically anything is ridiculous. I love grindy games but holy hell, Valheim is on a whole new level. -If this is your first play, I'd recommend vanilla first though.

While I love the game, every dungeon is just the same boring tunnel system over and over. there are no real points of interest so aside from scavenging ore and nuking fulling/dvergr bases, there isn't much point of exploration. The sheer amount of materials (looking at you, Iron) make the game un-fun

And like you said, farming. You need lots of farmed food but its annoying to get. Valheim is very inconsiderate of the player's time and it feels like I spend more time fighting the game and its systems then actual mobs.

I won't even play the game without plus anymore.

You’re probably burning yourself out because you’re taking too long to progress in the game. 300 carrot farm with a massive boar pen and yet you aren’t even past the swamps. Try and focus on game progression over base expansion; once you hit the plains is when bigger bases start to become beneficial. Boars are literally useless post-mountains, carrots are barely used as well. There’s really no need to create these elaborate mega-farms in the early game as the food source progression tree changes rapidly in the mid-game

I remember grinding the game almost 24/7 for 1-2 weeks when it got relased.
Valheim was so addicting, I spent my entire vacation for it.
Wasn't very healthy for me.

Good thing is, after some time it eases up,
But meanwhile, after 300h I started cheating by spawning myself most of the materials I need.

This significantly took some burden from me and decreased the grinding effort
However, I still do mining and stuff, but not that hard any more.

But if you feel like the game is burning you out, you should definetely take a major brake. That's not what games are made for.

Slow down. The game won't run away

It's worse than you think I've not even killed the elder, just found the swamp and build a huge "in case I die" base near the elder boss.

I'm probably just playing the game way way way too slow and like you're saying, If I progressed faster a lot of the things I'm putting a lot of effort into would already be replaced by something else down the road.

It's certaintly a me thing then.

well, if you are having fun, speeding up will just get you to a place where all that is left to do is build bigger homes.
Ive not tamed a boar, ever. Its a ton of work, and what do I need with 500 more hides and meat? Ill use sausage as a trash food, sure -- its decent. But you can make more than you will ever eat just defending yourself against occasional run ins.

Naaaa, quite the opposite. Some days I enjoy just turning over the garden, feeding the hogs, repairing the defenses, etc etc. Just can't be in a hurry to "solve" the game. The journey is the reward....

Sadly it doesn't feel that way. Maybe it's because I'm a factorio player but I have like 300 carrots and I can't be bothered to continue farming.

Must be a "me" thing because I want to keep building but the game keeps interrupting me and getting in the way while at the same time I don't want to just cheat my way because then what's the point?

Take the farming...why can't I just have boars living inside the carrot farm and they can feed them self then poop out carrot seeds for me to plant? I want stuff like that in my opinion.

Boars breed when fed. If they could feed themselves (your carrots, wild berries) then they would never stop breeding and you would have no control over their numbers and your game would soon starting lagging out imho.

I don't feel that way either. I try not to do to many things at once. I'm either building, or farming, gathering resources, exploring, or going out and fighting. I will do one thing for a couple of real days, and them move on to something else. I like building, so I usually spend 2 - 3 days just building if I have the resources. I'll get attacks, so that breaks things up a bit. And if all of that becomes a little boring, then I go to another location and work that area. I have 3 "main" bases that I work, so there is always something to do. You just have to find ways to break up the tedious work sometimes.

Then I would create pits at the side with fire and the boars overgrowing would push the spairs into the pit which would cook me some food. I would want to design my way out of that problem if the game would let me get into it.

Basically I feel like the game is constantly asking the player to be doing every tiny little thing and I would enjoy some way of escaping that eventually.

You don't need to keep farming because you don't need 300 carrots.

Though yes, a wilding farm option, perhaps with lower yields, would be a nice way to go. Would have to keep boar numbers down so the carrots don't go extinct. Mistlands spoiler: perhaps we could use ballistas to auto-cull, set a target number of adult (((tameable))) and the ballista kills excess.

Must just be a "me" thing, I'm wanting something different out of the game than what it's giving me.

I think I'll just stop playing and wait to see what 1.0 brings. Maybe they will address some things that I feel is too tedious and grindy. Or maybe they won't and I'll have my answer.

Check out the Farming and Foraging Mods from Smoothbrain. I find them to be really vanillafriendly, it is more a quality of life thing. You basically level farming and foraging while doing it and get more and more as you level up, also the planting is way better than it is in vanilla.

Maybe it is a "Me" thing, but that's ok. Everyone has a different idea of what they want or expect out of a game. Some like to just blast through a game and finish it as quickly as possible while others go slow and do as much as the can in the game. A typical 40 hour game for me will take 80+ hours while others can do it 20 hours or less. In this game, I don't mind (most of the time) the tedious and grindy part of the game - I find it relaxing at times, but that's just me.

you don't need that much to maintain your lifestyle.
In about an hour (tops) I can do 1-2 weeks of everything. That is generally just food, which for not fighting anything too difficult means grilled meat X 2 (generally bug and lox or bug and bunny), and salad (a bit of farming but you can make a LOT of salad with a little bit of work, its super efficient) and past that about 1 stack of wood (to feed 2 hearths and 1 hot tub), maybe a stack of medium healing potions (which once in a very, very rare while I have to go collect berries or something). That's it, 2 weeks or so ready to go. I stopped to make a bunch of stuffed shroom eitr food as well, but like salad, its fairly low effort. Its that OR the salad, not both.
