I actually found there to be more than enough warning about the edge of the world... we do have maps in the upper right corner.

I agree, you should thoroughly lambast the person at the helm for not realizing that "The Edge Of......" often describes something not to go past unless you know what lies beyond.

Me too, when I went over the edge (on purpose) I was hoping to see 4 elephants and a giant turtle. That would have been pretty cool! But, copyright issues I guess.

It's not that visible, especially at night...

You know, in reality, not every cliff or edge will make a floating and colorful "Do not step over, you WILL DIE"-Message appear, while you approach it and wonder what might happen, if you actually step into the void.

Well good, it should discourage people. New content only shows up in unexplored areas and all of the unfinished biomes only spawn past the half-way point towards the edge of the world. So players are really not supposed to be exploring out by the edge yet.
