There's no need for a convincing animation. A ladder could work the same way the ladders on boats work. You interact with E and presto, you're on top. It's what we want, anyway.

Which gives me a chance to pitch short-distance portals, aka stealth portals because they don't make a lot of show and can be clipped into doorways where only a faint glow might be visible.

I doubt thats the reason the devs dont put it in. A ladder is obviously a much more simple object than a full stairs object. Then its kinda like 2021 and if a dev tells me he cant put a ladder into a 3D game i honestly would fire him.

It honestly makes zero sense to not have ladders imo. They have short ones for the boats, and I'd be completely fine with it if there was no animation and it just popped you to the top on an adjacent piece of floor or land.

Expect it in later updates if at all since it requires new animation and the devs have a lot of work ahead of them already. Maybe it was already confirmed or denied by the devs but so far I havent seen feedback on it.

I'm OK with that honestly.
It would be nice for some things in building but there really is a lot to work out.
The whole interact to climb thing would basically lock you into the ladder .. then would they add combat while on the ladder or just leave you defenseless.. not even to mention all the animations for that stuff when they don't even have a proper animation for getting up in the morning ha ha.

Just seems like a lot of work for something that would at worst be a niche thing or at best be used to glitch things a lot.
