Build roofs with the actual roof tiles as floor tiles will let rain through and will decay your base.

Build your first base in the meadows.

Enemies won't spawn in the radius of work benches or campfires.

To repair items use the little hammer icon at a work bench. It costs no resources.

If you must dispose of items, throw them on the ground outside of the white work bench circles. The items will disappear after a couple of in game days.

Use the little shield and block right as an enemy swings at you to parry and stun them. Makes killing trolls easy.

I hate that things will just hang around forever. I built a place by the water and made a short pier and when I want to get rid of something I'll go to the end of the pier and throw it into the water. It sinks and I don't have to see it.

Yes. Start playing and exploring. Have fun. You can't really do much wrong. Whenever a question comes up, come here. You will get help in seconds or minutes at maximum!

My suggestion would be to use your first metal ingots to replace basic pickaxe, as it will increase ore gathering speed by a lot. I did a mistake and upgraded my other equipment first instead of pickaxe, would've been much faster if i had replace the basic pickaxe first.

have 3 types of food active,watch stamina as carefully as health,or even more its matter of life and death in combat ;)
Watch falling trees thyre death dont explore at night until ur eready .

when you first need to build near the black forest and later biomes, dig a dry moat around your base that has steep edges, you can totally troll/mob proof any base and all you have to do to get back in is run and jump. I normally build beside the sea anyway so you can dig it down so that it's actually a wet moat. Build enough basic workbenches inside the moat so that the circles cover all ground, then nothing can spawn inside your base. Never have to rebuild anything even when you get the larger base sieging events.

you can also easily farm trolls with a basic bow as they can get to you.

Easy way to get fine wood with basic axe, giving you an early bow upgrade hich really helps.; find the white birch tree surrounded by lots of beech trees. Tree's tend to fall away from the side you're cutting from, cut all the surrounding trees so that they fall onto the birch. It's pretty easy to get the other trees to knock it down. once on the ground keep cutting trees so that they fall onto the birch logs. If you're lucky you can get them to be crushed to fine wood with out rolling. if not, find a stone or stump, and roll the birch logs towards them. they will break after a few impacts. It's super easy if you find one on a slop resting against a rock/stump. just push it back up hill a bit, then jump up and over it and it will roll back and hit the rock.
You can literally have a fine wood bow in your first few minutes ;)

Don't go off sailing with all your freshly forged gear only to land in a biome you are not prepared for, die, and then spend hours trying to get your gear back. Then come back on the forums saying "I'm Done", "That's it", "This game is too hard"...."blah, blah, blah".

At least do a backup first of your game files in the app data folder before any such voyage: AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\characters
AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds

Yes you can. Throw out of the circle like i said and then in a couple in game days, they will despawn

Play the game blind and youll enjoy it much longer and it will remain mysterious longer too. But i bet that's too late already considering youre here :D

Fair point, I am not yet up to the plains. Also the swamp blobs can hop over, but it does prevent any walking mob, which reduces the number of things that can attack...

Need feathers? Bird hunting is hard, right? The best time is during storms, birds land under trees and stay still much longer.
