I have a few backed up copies of pre-updated (6-20) Valheim and I can run them and play my modded game just fine, BUT the old copy of the game doesn't find my world save so all my bases are gone, I just have my characther/inventory. I see my saves, but I don't know how to proceed from there?

Hello!

Yes it is indeed something you can achieve, Steam stores previous versions in their depot and are accessible through the console.

If you're looking for 11 April update (0.208.1), just open Steam with the -console parameter and type:
download_depot 892970 892972 8025230522296756970
(if you're looking for a different version, you'll have to learn how to find the correct manifest)

That command will take some time to download and after it finishes it will prompt the directory where it has been downloaded, just take those files and replace the Valheim updated files with those.

As a general suggestion to mod users, you can make a copy of the Valheim game folder (call it something different), and install your mods on that second folder to prevent it from updating.

I briefly researched something like that. I edited it but there is no search bar, just this error message under Console:
"PNG load warning iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
Failed to init SteamVR because it isn't installed
ExecCommandLine: "C:\Steam\Steam.exe -console"
System startup time: 17.20 seconds
ExecuteSteamURL: "steam://url/CommentNotifications"

I've got a copy backed up that runs fine by itself. Probably too late for this time, but once you have everything working again, just make a copy.

You should be able to revert to old versions on Steam by right clicking the game, going into properties, then betas and then selecting your preferred version. The last time I tried this was with Space Engineers months ago. I don't know if it works for Valheim.

If you play Offline in Steam, you don't get the updates until YOU want the updates.

a good way to download older versions of your steam games is by using this tool https://github.com/SteamRE/DepotDownloader

hate to break it to you. your going to have to redo those mods or might have to wait tell the devs of those mods update it.

wife and i use the plant everything mod. after the last update it broke that mod and we both had to go and fix them. if you using vortex its very easy to reinstall or update these mods. also if your using vortex you may not need to redo all the mods your using. vortex should flag the mods that are not going to work. just redo those ones.

not every mod will be broken due to updates

as for reverting back not sure if you can in this game.

Try just installing the latest BepInEx over the old one and you might be good to go. That was all I had to do to play again using valheimplus and a few others. Only mod I had that is still broken is Willybach's HD mod. Now the game looks bad to me, but I can still play at least.
