It was a very solid start of a game, my wife and I loved it and built a beautiful spread and had great fun along the journey. But then it ran out of steam and sound like not enough has changed to make it worth a restart. When I think of how much time I put into my property and our Plains island/farm, my 3-star pig farm, my portal tower, my blacksmithing shop, my gymnasium (for leveling up skills), and all the strategic defenses we put up to fend off surprise attacks, I just can't see doing it again until there is more content to drive the motivation. But when that comes, I will look forward to returning. Thanks.

Sounds like you're in the same boat (longship?) as me. I kept playing for a while, hoping that the Mistlands were right around the corner, but my friends stopped playing one-by-one, getting bored with the wait, until finally I was alone. Eventually, I gave up and moved on as well.

I recently came back and they've made a few updates and fixed a lot of bugs and miscellaneous gameplay problems. Got one of my old buddies to try out a new seed with me, and we're having fun, but the rest of them say that they won't come back until there's been some real content added, like Mistlands.

I've been having fun still with just the one friend, mind you. It's been quite an adventure already and we're not even to Bonemass, yet. That being said, I can't really blame the other friends who want to wait for the release of Mistlands, and it's really annoying that we don't even have a general timeframe for that. The teaser pictures and blog posts about that one dev "working on the textures" right before they cleared out the Mistlands biome in game kept me hoping it was right around the corner, but the latest news from them on it makes it seem as if they've just now started working on it instead of six months ago when they claimed they were.

All in all, I'd say it's always worth coming back to, but just temper your expectations.

I have 1300 hours in. I played the H&H content, and the Ice Caves.

Personally I'm taking a break for bit. I have no doubt whatsoever that the team will see this vision through. They just aren't going to be able to do it at a pace that keeps me playing until they get there.

I'll probably play through again after Mistland drops. But I might wait.

It's essentially the same game, but with more things added to what was already there. Still fun to play. New food system, reworked armor and block systems, and new stuff added to swamp, mountains and plains. Up to you if that's worth another run. Not abandoned, but not moving as fast as everyone wants.
