A Chitin curiosity
This world treated me rough, first chitin shell on day 28, no biggy.
Found chitin shell no.2 day 179, climbed on top, saw shell no.3 behind it.
Climbed shell no.3, saw shell no.4 pop into render behind it.
Climbed shell no.4, guess what? shell no.5 behind it !! All neatly stacked in a line!
So while that was suprise enough... two of these shells have allowed me to completely mine them clean without rumbling once. I've mined many shells and never had that happen.
Has any one else had this? Will they regenerate barnacles?

i myself have been tending to this same fact....

I laid this land bridge down to be able to harvest from them safely. I was mistakenly under the impression that they may submerge, but would return to the same spot.
Which is currently under test on a throw-away copy. In that version it has been 50 days w/o a return sighting.
I am wondering from the way it was phrased, if someone feels a particular pattern of harvest makes it less likely to have a negative impact. I would like for it to be a harvest-able node, not simply a one-shot deal. And not too mention that was a good bit of stone essentially wasted.

I had hoped by doing this I could avoid the likely chances of drowning. Two Levs live here, one is just beyond render range.

But if there is some method that can be used to minimize the chances of them vacating I am all turtle ears. Maybe a pattern to harvesting, a route that harms them the least i guess. anything.

That multiplies out to about a 2 in 3 chance of submerging within ten hits. Probability is weird. According to the wiki, each hit to a barnacle has a 10% chance of triggering the leviathan to submerge. So every 10 whacks should do the trick, but you can get lucky and keep going.

Actually had a similar thing happen to me in my current seed.
No Leviathans in sight around the time I spent from Meadows to the Mountains. Only when sailing around to a Plains destination did I finally manage to find some. First one, on the way there, was alone.. this one let me mine everything without going under.
Later on down the ocean a bit, I've got probably 4 in a row just as you described. Didn't bother mining them out, thought I'd leave them alone as kind of a neat landmark. I'd say all 4 are within rendering distance; 3 at the very least.

So I've stacked two improbable chances, should probably buy a lottery ticket unless I've spent all my luck on chitin :D
Any thoughts on what the bald turtle will do? A forever feature or a possible regrowth?

Probably happy you removed the barnacles. They can't be pleasant to have.
