Can you continue playing after finishing the story?
So I've just started my playthrough and I wonder, can I continue building & exploring after I beat the game? I can't seem to find the answer to this question anywhere.

Great except that's not how the game portrays the story. You get about 3 lines saying, hey you are dead, now go kill things. Every new character in Valheim is a warrior that was recently slain in battle and ferried to the realm by a divine maiden known as a Valkyrie. Traditionally, Vikings who die honorably are either taken to the paradises of Valhalla or Fólkvangr, where they would rest until their final battle brought about by the end times, known as Ragnarök. However, those taken to Valheim will have no time to beat around the bush.
The gods have turned their backs on Valheim, and it has become besieged by powerful beasts that even Odin is fearful of. It is players' duty to tame this primordial purgatory and turn it into paradise akin to Valhalla. That will involve carving out mountains to build mead halls, traveling to snowy peaks to harvest arcane materials, and slaying mythical creatures. It's a straightforward mission with countless ways to approach it.
thats the story.. The end... :D

Yeah that's not a story, it is a summed up plot line at best.Yes there is a story.. which goes: What story?
If you mean defeating all the bosses, well like most survival/building games you can explore or build.
You died in battle, but you were not worth enough to get to Valhalla and not bad enough to be rejected, so you are send to (fictional, made by devs) 10th world of Yggdrasil called Valheim, where you need to prove your strength to Odin by surviving and defeating his powerful minions (bosses). Also sometimes you can see Odin on your own watching you from a distance (black hooded man with a staff).

You can play your character as long as you want, you can play your map as many times as you want, you can defeat any boss as many times as you want, you can restart a new map with the same character as many times as you want. There is no end.
Short answer: Yes.

Absolutely. The game doesn't stop after defeating the last boss. Of course the game isn't finished so there are more bosses and biomes to come.

The answer to this question is known only to Iron Gate Studio and possibly not even to them.
There are three biomes which currently exist only as place holders (Mistlands, Ashlands and the Deep North) and another, the Ocean, which may undergo major changes. The three place holders will each contain a boss, which a viking must defeat to finish the game.
As far as I know, Iron Gate Studio has not indicated if defeating the final boss and securing Valheim for Odin will result in a cut scene and a reassignment to Valhalla.
If you mean to ask "Can you continue playing after defeating all the current bosses?" the answer is yes. One might prefer to take a break pending the release of the next complete biome. I will probably continue playing to maximize my equipment and skills. Perhaps even to build a really elaborate base or some outposts closer to one or more of the placeholder biomes.
