If it kept more than just one level of these they might even be useful. Most people don't have the learned reaction of not running a bugged game again until all saves and backups are secured, they go straight back in and overwrite the one good .old file.

It's been a good while since I played but doesn't the host have a save file that can be sent?

There is a worldname.fwl and worldname.db file located here:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds

Transfer those files to your friend and that's it.
