Do We Need to Wipe Our Dedicated Server?
I run a server for my friends and I. It's currently on day 746. We haven't played in quite some time. I updated the server and it seems to run fine. Everything we built is still there but do we need to wipe it to get any of the new content? Thanks

Indeed it does. I can confirm. In my understanding, yes. Try it out and report back. :winter2019joyfultearsyul:
I returned to my first seed (which was my favourite one) and went to a place in the plaines where I've never been before.
And after al while I really found a Tar pit. That's awesome!
When the tar pit update came out I was so angry with me for removing the war fog.
I thought I had to drop this seed and I did. Now I'm happy I can still use it :-)
Baby, here I come. welcome home.

Thanks for the help. I'll go check a new place and see if we have any tar pits.

Here's the answer from the pinned FAQ post:
"Will new content be added to my world I currently are playing on?
New content such as tar pits, mountain caves and Mistlands in the future will not appear in areas that have been already generated. Areas are generated 300-500 meters from a player's location. "Exploremap" and "resetmap" has no effect."
Wait: does this mean that if I used the console cheat in order to uncovers the map it does have no effect on the world generation?
So in other words, in case I would visit an area that I've never been before but was already uncovered via map-cheat could still contain tar pits?
Even if it was befor the update tart pit were added to the game?

Probably. Depends on how much you explored. Anything you've explored wont populate with new content. Anything unexplored will.

We can't know this 100%. The things you have already built should still remain, and ideally you will be able to keep playing on your existing world. However, it's not certain that you will be able to access all of the new game content without starting a new world."
