I mean this is what makes the game challenging and to be honest the H&H update really made it much easier... I'm always looking to play if you need help grabbing your gear.

Two-star Skeletons can definitely be a problem, especially if you were unlucky enough to have one in your first attempted dungeon. You can parry 27 damage with a maxed Wood Shield, which would likely counter a Skeleton Archer if you have enough health and full leather. Melee Skeletons deal more damage, however, so I'm not sure if you'd be able to parry with a wood shield. At that point, you'd have to resort to either dodges or some campfire shenanigans.

I've had this happen. In the first ten days of the world. And the two star was outside the crypt... I complained bitterly... seems like they may have made some changes...

I guess my first question was what day were you on? Even if they do limit tougher spawns in the first ten days or so, if you chilled for a while all bets are kind of off.

That said the transition into the Black Forest is a bit rough. But all you really need is one troll to make a troll armor piece and then you can fairly safely enter the crypts.

This kind of makes getting troll a step before bronze. What is really difficult is not having any trolls around and having to enter the crypts only in leather.

Oh one other thing... you can place a fire in the entryway inside... put it at the foot of the step and they will walk into it.. block off passages etc.
You can also build the log seat inside a crypt and use those to direct them around into the fires.

So you weren't sneaking while going through the dungeon? But either way, I hate archers so much. They got them sniper shots

I'd imagine your stuff isn't that great at this point to not be able to craft it easily. But have you killed trolls to craft the armor yet? I ended up doing this on my first run of the game and it helped a lot. Though I never used a shield yet...

its hard to justify at such an early game stage, but you arent fully ready for the next biome until you have backups for all your best gear. 2 sets of armor, weapons, equipment, in order to fight your way back to your body.

and since you are just on meadows, getting more deer kills doesnt seem that hard. you will use deer meat probably throughout the blackforest and swamps, and deer hides as well. deer antlers also make the mallet, which is a good entry level weapon against skeletons.

but yes, 2 star enemies represent a sudden spike in difficulty, especially considering that blocking and armor absorption are not linear. a 2 star enemy is probably more like 4+ times the offensive threat of a 0 star.

You need to master the meadow biome first. Get full leather armor, shield and most importantly the stagbreaker (if you are struggling). You can always find a different dungeon? The game can be hard at times and you will die often. You'll just die less by being better prepared. As the game kinda tells you to be.

If you find yourself dying to something over and over, don't just jump at it again with the same approach. Try something different. Maybe max out your shield to parry better? Stagbreaker? Bring better/different kind of food? (depending on what food you eat, you will be better at blocking and parrying) Max out your armor? Bring a club instead of whatever else you're fighting with? (skeletons are weak to blunt)

There are so many ways to avoid your early game problem and future problems! You just have to pause and think.

I know the game is unforgiving at times and doesn't hold your hand. But that's what gives its appeal. It's hard, but very much manageable if you prepare properly.

I had the same issue early on. I just wandered around outside of dungeons until I had enough bones to make a bone tower shield. That and top level leather armor and a torch for a weapon made handling even 2 star skeles fairly easy if you can time the right click to block (timing is even more important with a parry shield). When you get a horde of them you can back away around a corner and they'll bunch up when they come after you. You can hit 3 or even 4 of them at a time when they bunch up even without a stag breaker.

Also make sure you are dungeoning during the day. It appears that the night time spawn rate also happens at night time inside a dungeon.

Edit - top level food available and rested bonus are also important for early dungeoning. You should be able to come up with a couple of fish. Cooked fish, cooked deer meat, and honey should allow you to survive with a shield and a rested bonus especially with the first forsaken power to reduce stamina drain.

Why not find a different crypt - not all have spawners.
Also, dodge (or block) the arrows if it's just one skeleton shooting then rush him.
