Probably just a bad world seed. I rarely see rainy days.

this is the 3rd playthrough where we have had this problem, random new seeds everytime.

Like I said it would at least be cool if there was a benefit to having rain..but it's nothing but an annoyance in every way.

That's not my experience either, both pre- and post-upgrade. I can only figure it's not only a matter of seed or rng, but perception is at work too...

Moreover, the 10th world is meant to be a purgatory, and like how storms there look extra-mundane, or how fog and mild rain can make feel how everything is getting wet in the outside. This is how I perceive it, but I figure that devs can still tweak weather settings a bit to your liking.

It could be worse, it could be a hellish weather.

Maybe it's a localization thing...I sailed halfway across the map and started building elsewhere and it's not raining nearly as much, but anytime I go back to the first area we built in, it's storming

It's pretty much random, and biome based too (not counting Swamp). Just wait the rain out, it will stop soon.

It's Sweden.
