Any use for 'outdated' excess food (other than animal feed)?

When I was brand spanking new to the game (10 days ago...), I kind of got carried away on cooking the boar meat until I got the cauldron and saw better recipes that used it (uncooked).

I'm finishing up the swamps now, and have STILL been using "cooked boar meat" as one of my 3 foods, cause I had too much. I still have too much, but I'm going to stop using it as food.

So...are there are any uses for all this extra 'cooked boar meat" besides eating? Wiki says no, but I wanted to make sure before I throw out 100 of 'em.

I watched that video in the other thread you had made to show it; your base is beautiful, and I learned several things watching it. Like how to vent an indoor smelter without having the roof super-super high. That was a cool 'trick' to see. I wish I'd seen it BEFORE building my new base yesterday. haha

I was using deer stew, sausages and bread in the plains, for some reason that's all i needed, had so much deer and boar meat. Had more than enough lox pies than i could eat for the entire mistlands cause of it.

I still use the cheap foods when I'm puttering around in the meadows or doing something like farming and feeding live stock. If I need to make a raspberries runs to make meads I'll use the cheap food. My padded armor will keep me alive in the meadows even on cheap food. Same deal with a blueberry run in the black forest or a run along the shore in the swamps to get a few leech drops for healing meads.

If all else fails stick in your obliterator and use the end product to smelt ore.

I use weaker food as a way to just regenerate health when kicking around the base, exploring, etc and save my good food for when I want to be at my best.

Note- if you put pukeberries on an item stand they look like apples for your decoration purposes.

Yep. I made a decent base with several large tables all around several hearths. Filled it with all types of meats, stews, fish, and tankards. Just a massive feast laid out to feed a dozen guests I'll never have.

Looked nice at least.

Thanks for the tip! I just finished constructing my new base (to replace my noob-base) and that table that I put in the main hall was looking pretty sparse. I've got food and mead flagons laid out on it now and it looks so much better.
I don't care what some gamers say...aesthetics matter!

I like to use old foods for when I'm just tooling around in my base so I don't die from a slip-and-fall or get irradiated to death by the eitr refinery or get bonked by the odd troll I have to go outside and shoo away.

If there's a raid I have to deal with I can use a pukeberry and swap to my current food.

This! Other than the pukeberries (never used them). I tend to not eat way too often, so having cheap/free food is very useful.
