100 days challenge without beating per boss?
The rules are simple, survive 100 days without beating a boss (until last few days) and no exploits and cheating, nuff said.
I managed to spent 100 days without killing eikthyr. The challenge itself wasn't so bad, i didn't need eikthyr to get the pick and i've managed to find iron just by using stag breaker.
My current viking has almost Max level Root Set which gives me same armor rate as bronze with extra pierce resistance and poison resistance. I also had enough iron to make a long boat and stonecutter but not enough to get an iron pick (which i need for silver and obsidian to get the silver tier equipment).
The biggest challenge with the run is the boss items and forsaken power but other than that, its possible to beat the challenge and almost skip the entire 4 biomes without needing any of the boss items. Its only plains and Mistlands that are heavy blocked but even then you can still get really good items in them (and even then its possible to get the black core and get the Krom and Arbalest Early on without dying).
Also since you can't kill the boss until final days, you can get enough ores and resources for the next 100 days since Valheim is very resource heavy game and you have plenty of resources to craft specific items and you can get quantities of it which is a really got pro for that challenge.
I did die plenty of times though but its few times in black forest against trolls (due to terrain or caves) and swamp of course (though bow helped me for the most of it), though most of it i avoided with gaming skill.
The challenge itself was pretty fun and very possible to beat and you can get surprising amounts of items without needing to farm (unlike playing regularly which requires you to backtrack and such). There are pros and cons to it.
Pros
1# You get enough resources to almost not worrying about the resources for the next 100 days.
2# You can get pretty good armor sets without need to mine ores (other than iron and late equipment) especially the light armor sets which gives it a really huge advantage without mining.
3# Its almost the same as just playing regularly without needing certain items.
4# Farms, you have enough resources to make a huge farm
5# Raids, if you don't kill eikthyr, you don't need to worry much against raids since the only enemies raiding are lizards and boars which only triggers in meadows and blackwoods and you can get free foods for it.
Cons
1# Boss items, usually the swamp key from the elder (you can get iron but not in fast quantities) and dragon tear from Moder, other than that, most can just be ignored really.
2# Forsaken Power which can make it somewhat difficult especially mountain, plains and mistland enemies though it needs certain trick to beat.
I managed to make a video of it and spending 100 days of it, My video isn't great and has amateurish editing plus i often use the same words. and it is very possible. Someone could watch this and maybe make a video by beating Valheim without needing to kill a single boss, it ain't easy but it is very possible though you are left with certain resources.

So whats your thoughts about the challenge? Right now after beating eikthyr, i'll start spending 100 days without beating elder. Would the challenge be good?

I do no boss runs, but they keep adding things to bosses to block access to certain things which is annoying.
300 days on this last run before I decided to kill my first ever boss. Deer boss took like 6 hits total and just barely spawned in. Been to every biome fully geared, level 32 I think now.
When you start needing more iron than you can find just smacking ground it gets annoying sailing around looking for more swamps but once you get used to it, you can find it pretty easily. Didn't need to kill the deer boss, just wanted to see if I could without getting hit, pretty much stun locked it with frostner. The Elder took a few minutes but I can get iron a little easier now. Haven't bothered with the other bosses yet but I'll need to kill a couple more so I can craft all the things. I don't like being soft-locked behind things like that. Almost everything in the game can be unlocked by finding things, but then you get locked behind a boss fight to unlock a couple things that are necessary for progression.

My last no-boss run I got all silver gear and was able to go/do whatever I wanted. Visited all the boss alters, but didn't touch. Then I decided to find my retirement location, but got bored because of no events. That was also playing no-map, no-portal, permadeath.
As for locked items, you don't need all that much iron, and now you can get iron from ML, which could be useful, although dangerous. Has anyone figured out what is locked in ML when not defeating Yag? You're going to be blind because you can't get the wisp, but I don't remember what else requires (if anything) the Torn Spirit, or wisp.

I do love these challenge ideas that fellow vikings come up with. I did something similar where I progress up to as far as I can without defeating a boss. The limit is silver age gear, it seems so far, unless I find another way. I dig the idea and you are right you do get to stock pile a bunch of stuff which can be helpful for the next step. Also gives you a chance to really just kinda enjoy the biome a little more too I think. A solid tip that might help you out before you take out the elder for swamp.
You can use a chair to get through the Iron Gates on the sunken temples. Its an odd master key so to speak. Place the chair facing the door and as close/into the iron gate that you can, its usually about half in half out. Take a seat and move forward and should pop you right in, if not give it a couple of more tries before moving the chair to try a better spot. Basically, bugging through the gate ;)
This little trick makes moving from the swamp to the mountains a much more pleasurable experience.
The guide that John above posted is pretty solid and helpful. I typically use the Troll as my employee of the month and I upgrade that stag hammer for longer durability when pounding around. As for the mountain biome you don't need a huge mountain just one tall enough that has obsidian and eggs on it.
I play permadeath and was able to conquer this new update with a new start at 216 days. Roughly at 100 days before I tackled all the bosses but the new Mistlands. No record by anymeans, but haven't tried the no-map or no-portal which could be a nice added excitement/fustration depending on whats going down. Oddly during the whole 100 days or so before I slayed the final boss I got only stir the cauldrons, about 8 of them. Weirdest event RNG.
Happy adventuring, SKAL!!!!

Think the 2 things not killing Yagluth would lock you out of would be the Torn Spirit to get Wisps so that you can see (optional but highly unpleasant) and getting Eggs from the Trader (highly optional). I guess you could probably look up the seed online to locate PoVs without hoping you just blunder into them. Fighting the Queen with limited vision sounds like a really bad idea.

advance as far as you can without killing a boss, and then try and kill all the bosses as quickly as you can. best my friend and i did was eikthyr to yagluth in 2 days. can add in permadeath for more challenge. could also set a certain day as the 'final day' and then go thru the bosses... i.e. get as far as you can & on day x speedrun the bosses.

I guess i've done that as well then, with some added challenge, and no exploits like going into crypts with a portal or door.

Depending on your playstyle, going 100 days with fuling or seeker invasions enabled might be a bit interesting, but I did just that when Mistlands came out (before the balance patch too) and never saw a single seeker invasion in 100 days. Only one gjall invasion. The world I've had since the beginning is past approximately 700 days, so the "challenge" described here sounds just like how I play the game normally solo. So I dunno lol.

Well you can get as many resources as possible for this challenge. That's one thing. Other thing is adventuring towards dangerous biomes and conquering with the best possible items available.

Yeah I also don't see the challenge. Instead, a more interesting challenge would be beating the bosses in reverse order, but that's well documented already. Skipping biomes becomes childs play when you understand how stagbreaker works. Getting to the mountains early is actually quite easy.

Um, so you just farm for 100 days, okay, great start for a keeper seed, but seriously, whats the point. I just tonight beat the Queen, it was challenging to say the least, maybe you should pop the game before doing random utube challenges. Whatever floats your boat though mate, it's a great game.

You guys misunderstood, the challenge was the "play for 100 days" part, rest is just fluff.

What's the point? I don't understand the challenge. I could easily sit around with 25 hp for 100 days.
