This is true. Potatoes, tomatoes, chocolate, and sugar/rum were not available in Scandinavia during the viking age.

If Ashlands are going to be volcanic they will probably add cabbages since those do well in volcanic soil found in cold climates and the oceans update could include lobsters since that was a poor person food in cold climates near oceans during the viking age..

They could add washed up whales on beaches for resources and figs for the hotter regions.
It would be nice if you could plant a fig and have it fertilised by a Deathsquito so you don't have to deal with those attacking you anymore.
