Power attack damage comparison Krom vs Mistwalker

Out of curiosity I have tested the power attack of both weapons with two very nice volunteer trolls. I used parry before each test for the damage bonus.

Here are the results:
Krom

Mistwalker

Sword level 60.

As you can see Krom hits insanely hard. I was honestly surprised by the damage it does though don´t get fooled by the numbers, because Mistwalker is still superior against seekers thanks to the slowing effect of the frost.

I have to say I really love Krom. They did a fine job on this one, especially the animations of the attacks are very nice. It is also not too bad for parrying and in my opinion it looks simply amazing. I love it.

Mistwalker is a close second for me and my goto weapon for Mistlands because it makes fighting seekers so much easier. Great weapon, fast and snappy. You can´t go wrong with this one.

So what do you think about these weapons and which one do you like more?

Mistwalker's damage is split between 3 types. That might be why it does less than expected with the triple damage attack.

It seems that 2H swords are meant to be a ranger weapon (consumes tons of stamina+only -5% mp) for those who want to swap their bow fast and get an insane power attack on a single target and ironically they don't have cleave like their 1H counterpart for balance purpose i guess.
The problem, though, is that Krom does not possess any elemental dmg and while in Mistlands it's not worth the pick and later on will probably get outpaced by Ashlands Slayer swords. Not to mention Mistwalker will be a no brainer there once more...

I haven't tried Krom yet, but I love my two friends Skoll and Hati!

That must have been a bad hit with the mistwalker, or there's some damage modifier that I'm not thinking of. I regularly get over 600 damage from the black metal sword, so I'm sure the damage from mistwalker should be more than what you show. I would expect around 700 damage from the mistwalker.

Of course, Krom should do more damage, but not that much more damage.

Ikr it´s weird. I can assure you it was perfect hit. I will fire up the game and do the same test with my blackmetal sword and do another one with the mistwalker just to see if the damage varies.

The damage numbers are correct if that's what you're wondering about. Krom's secondary deals over 400 damage.

I did just find out something interesting. The powerattack damage does indeed vary. I had a test with my fully upgraded black metal sword, same setup with troll, parry ect and it only did around 450 damage, the next hit though did over 500 damage. Unfortunately I missed the timing to hit F12 on the first one but I have a already a couple of screenshots that show that the damage is not always the same. I´m running dangerously low on volunteer trolls though lol. I´ll post the screenshots in a moment.

I'm not questioning the Krom. I'm questioning mistwalker. The black metal sword secondary does 339 damge, so the mistwalker should be more, and should be closer to the damage of the Krom.

Seems alright looking at damage numbers from the wiki. Krom is a bit special case now since it's the first weapon of its kind.

Mistlands gear are not huge upgrades in terms of raw numbers, it's their added functionality with elemental damage types (where applicable), several new weapon types and use of alternate materials.

The damage shown in the pictures above show the mistwalker having not much more than half the damage of the krom, but the wiki shows the damage should difference should be much less.

TBH, I don't really see the purpose of the krom currently. There's nothing outside of mistlands that needs anything more powerful than a BM sword. The mistwalker adds elemental damage to help deal with the ML mobs, which the krom lacks, so what is it intended to be used for?

Raw physical damage output? It should be good for dealing with soldiers in co-op and pretty much anything else. You could go with Demolisher as well but it has more knockback and not high damage secondary attack. As I said, it really depends on the circumstances. :P

Ok here we go. What I found out is that damage numbers vary a lot and I´m not sure why. Maybe there is another luck based variable in the damage calculation. Every single test was done the same, parry and then powerattack while the troll is staggered.

I make three posts, because of the many pictures.
I start with blackmetal sword:

Black metal sword fully upgraded. sword lvl 61.

Mistwalker is my preference, reason being I ended up being a knife user and shield for support when needed, but the mistlands knife is two handed so ended using the sword. Trying to get used to using the mistlands knives but they use a lot more stamina and is not as user friendly as the previous one handed knives so looks like I'll be a mistwalker user until I get a new one handed knife.

Krom just like the two handed battle axes just look fun to use, I think they're a good show off weapon to display your skill

It really depends on loadout preferences. I like Mistwalker more since I feel I can use Himmin afl to do the two-hander job better (it has higher parry too). On the other hand, if you main bow or crossbow, you may want a slashing two-hander instead.
