Eh...not exactly. Totally legit, the best you get is sailing or a somewhat gentle float anti-fall-damage ability you can get ahold of way later in the game. Otherwise, attempts to fly usually result in going splat.

There are console commands though which does come with the ability to fly. If going for panoramic aerial tours the flying walk is probably a decent pace as long as your system doesnt have issues with load lag (doesnt need to be a beast to avoid that). The sprinting fly is actually really fast though, so maybe not the best for that but it is great for exploring the map quickly to find those beautiful landscapes in the first place.

Will also warn you that while all biomes are at least capable of some decent landscapes, some will be more challenging than others. Like the theme in one biome is dense mists that obscure vision so you can't actually see much of the landscape, but it also features lots of high elevation places that are above that mist and those can offer some beautiful vistas in their own right (and some spots actually in the mist can be enchanting to in the right conditions, even with limited visibility).

some early vikings found a variety of ways to launch themselves into the stratosphere and invariably died on impact. With the mentioned item, it could be worth a revisit to their humorous designs if you want to check it out. The basic idea is to use roof tiles down a mountain to make a rollercoaster of sorts and ride a ship down and back up to launch. They were constantly repairing the ship on the way down to keep it intact. Another one used the harpoon to do it.

Thor have flying goats and Odin have a 6 or 8 leged flying horse, so is not like the vikings did not think of stuff like that

Personally, I think a flying mount with stamina would be fine at end game.

Everyone who used the fly cheat at least one time can see that flying in this game really isn't working well. Unity games struggle with asset loading far to hard.. adding flying to it would totally kill it.

Maybe something like flying mounts can come in future content updates, who knows. For now you can build portals for fast travel.

the journey is the game, if we could quickly get to different places in the air safely would largely defeat any difficulty the game presents. If they add flying mounts be prepared for an enemy that likes attacking you up there.

Just use mods, no reason not to mod the game
