Looks like I need to learn to sail. Only spawn locations for The Elder are on other landmasses far beyond swim range. There is a nearer one, but across an even wider water gap.

Definitely learn to sail, bro. It's maybe a marmite type situation (Love it or hate it), but for me it's very likely the reason I am on my second playthrough. I REALLY love the sailing mechanic in combination with the exploring and changing landscape. It really gives you a good dollop of adventure... and sometimes some punishment, but mostly adventure.

What I recommend is to start thinking of building a carve and start turning Terra Incognito into Terra Familiaroso ^^
