Best advice ever! According to Steam I've clocked 1440 hours... That's less that 1.4 cents per hour for my $19.99 investment. Totally worth it for me!

On the one hand, the store page description says "A brutal exploration and survival game" ... but it's really not that "brutal." You cannot starve and basically the only threats are the ones you seek out. You could stay in the safer areas and build castles if that's your thing.

On the other hand, the Steam "tags" describe it as "Open World Survival Craft, Survival, Online Co-Op, Open World, Multiplayer, Building, Crafting, Exploration, Base Building, Co-op, Sandbox, Adventure, Mythology, RPG, Early Access, Action, Indie, PvP, Singleplayer" ... it DOESN'T say "brutal, punishing, souls-like" but later stages of the game can be hard and there are no difficulty settings.

Most of the "discussions" (and I use that term loosely) come from those two perspective and cry that the game is either "too easy" or "too hard" depending on your point of view. (I hope this thread doesn't turn into another one of those arguments, but I won't hold my breath.)

I'm in the "RPG, exploration" group and I think the game is a little harder than necessary in the later game since I don't have competition-grade gaming skills. Sometimes I'm not in the mood for it and I play half the game and after defeating the third boss, I just start a new game. Other times I've got the itch and slow and steady I go all the way to the current end.

Mistlands continues the trend. Probably a little harder than I'd like. Or, stated another way, would be "more fun" for me if it wasn't quite so hard. But I do find it manageable.

Back to the quote at the top - do your due diligence and then decide if the game fits your playstyle.

Those are THE worst two reasons to buy this game, or any game for that matter.

Ignore hype.
1. What might seem popular to others doesn't mean it's a match for you.

This is good advice. Do your own research, especially for any Early Access game. Watch gameplay and examine the patch history.

2. Ignore player base numbers.
"Player base" is meaningless. You're either going to play this solo or you're going to play this co-op with someone you know. You are not going to want to play with strangers.
The reason for the recent increase is that the latest update is something players have been waiting a year and 10 months for. The current 30% discount doesn't hurt either.

As an Early Access title, you have two options:
Buy this incomplete game and help the dev's by providing feedback until they're done. Be aware that may take months or even years.
Or, follow it and wait until they finish developing the game.

It's 20 bucks and well worth it which can't be said for many things in life any more. Just do it and if you hate it after an hour or so get your money back from steam.
Do note that if you want your hand held or looking for a Triple-A mmo, this is not that.
Go for it, many hours of fun and death.

All great answers here! To see what's new, you can also forum search for Mistlands and do know it'll contain spoilers. If you want the fresh area experience with a new boss, don't read ahead, too much. :) I can't really think of anything more that could be said so we'll close this up and hope to see you in Vahalla one day.

Hey there,

you can find that answer by browsing the patch notes here on Steam, or take a look at the wiki page:

A new biome, with new enemies, new weapons and armor, new magic, fishing expanded, more building parts, more furniture and cosmetic stuff, new resources, new food. Pretty much expanding on everything.

The game was already worth it, and this update has plenty to offer for those that already loved what was there. And there's still more to come as the game continues along in early access. In before the "Updates are too slow!" crowd start crying

It's a great game, but do your due diligence. Check out gameplay, maybe watch some streams, ask questions. Know what you're buying before you put your money down.

Lets say the game costs 20€, and I will claim that you get easily 80hours of playing. 25cents per hour, that's what playing will cost you. Can you deal with that cost?

If you like survival type of game then this would hook you. There is strong elements of base building and harvesting resources. Some of resource harvesting is manual labor (farming+ breeding) but mostly you just gather& kill everything you can get you hands on while exploring the world.
Building can be off putting. For me it caused a 1 year hiatus after initially buying the game but once I got the knack for it, everything has been going great and I now have over 300hours ingame.

I have played the game "through" before mistlands and just love the progression starting from scratch.
