LAN Multiplayer Join Issue

I run a Valheim server on an older rig (it's capable and works fine) - server is wired into my network.

Up until 2 days ago, I was able to join via local IP (192.168.1.x) - even beat the plains boss and explored numerous islands with a friend. Friend is able to connect just fine, and I can connect but not via internal IP. Now suddenly I get wrong password when trying to connect.

I am using a workaround for now - VPN outside of my network with my gaming PC, then connecting via external IP - however, nothing has changed on my network. I've even rebooted every device just to make sure it wasn't something wonky.

On top of this issue, there's also odd lag - items render briefly, disappear, then reappear, without animation. For instance, when cooking bread in the oven, the loaves don't eject like they should. Harvesting crops causes crops to float upward for 2-3 seconds before being "collected". Some mobs don't render or skip around really fast then reset position.

The only thing in-game that changed was we acquired some mistlands items, and we got chickens.

Did the latest mini patch change a network setting? Do chickens cause issues? Is there an item limit we're hitting, and if so, how do we find out if we've hit that limit? Are there any other workarounds or ways to reduce lag?
