There is a mechanic that allows for non-cooperative play (wards), but the issue is with the way that world difficulty has been implemented. As you take on the individual bosses in the game, the entire game world becomes more dangerous. Thank you for your explanation. Yeah Isee hot it works. The game's basic mechanics weren't made for multiplayer, it's fine, I've still been enjoying the game so far :D

Yeah, it's solo and small private group co-op, there are *some* open public servers but their admins have to put heroic efforts into anti-grief protections because the default game has absolutely zero defences so insists on server passwords. Gotta shop around for invites on the LFG tab ==>

It's pretty much a solo game. You can have 10 people in a group on your seed (world) Would have to password it and invite your friends. Also can rent a server so your friends can log into the game world without you being on.
