Friendly NPC’s?
Description says you can build a settlement, does that mean currently you can build and populate a settlement or is it just with friends in co-op?

Saying that it doesnt fit the lore, because its afterlife, is nonsense.
There is clearly other human beings in this afterlife, as evidenced by the runestones and the abandoned settlements.

If you have abandoned villages, the game can have some villages not totally abandoned. The can be confused on where they are and whats going on, sort of like not knowing if they are dead, or they land they live on, but banded together to survive. I am not sure if there is a story for the abandoned villages, I might not have made it that far. (PS I know its an old topic haha)Yeah, reading this necro'd thread and the "no other NPC's in vikingr afterlife" is lame. Look at all of the abandoned farms and buildings.

Maybe for some, the represented afterlife just has reminders of what the 'real' world WAS like, what was left behind. So abandoned villages etc. and no contact with others except those 'battle friends' that you can coop with, over and over, until you leave Valheim and Valhalla is reached. Much like purgatory, and everyone's purgatory is different.
The lore can be explained however you like, you just have to stop thinking logically. Just because there are abandoned villages doesn't mean there should be villagers as well.
It's not Skyrim.

More npc's have been suggested before and I am all for it. For that matter, even static ones like the merchant would be nice. Just brings a little "life" in the otherwise pretty empty game.

Friends. Technically the game is set in the Norse afterlife, so NPCs wanting to settle into a village isn't really going to be a thing.

I think that it should be possible to recruit human npc. To defend the village and assign them jobs or to be fellow adventurers

Recruiting human NPCs would work if this wasn't a post mortem world, but it is.
To be lore-friendly (I don't know) maybe if NPCs were spectral, or ghost-like, like those summoned in Dark Souls.

Friends. Technically the game is set in the Norse afterlife, so NPCs wanting to settle into a village isn't really going to be a thing.Depends. Valheim is not Valhalla so it could be a mix of both Valhalla and Hel. Hel in Norse myth was not like the hell of Christianity. People tended to continue to "live" much like they did when they were living.
