It was the plains for me. I wanted my walls and pets put through their paces.

Plains for the look. Swamp for the gameplay.

Once you hit swamps it feels like the tutorial is finally over and the game really opens up. You can start building with stone and iron. You have a good reason to learn about meads. Enemies have diverse behaviours and can't all be rushed half-heartedly. Even the terrain itself can pose an entertaining challenge. The only real detractor I find is that it has the most disappointing boss battle in the game.

I like meadows, flavored with self planted dark forest trees (in main base).

I hate the swamp and the mountains, boring dreary slogs the both of them. Though frost caves can be interesting. There's nothing wrong with the meadows or black forest, but they're both boring. Plains I actually started to have some fun raiding fuling villages, unfortunately fuling are pretty dumb and there's only so much black metal I need.

The ocean is by far the worst, why yes I do enjoy waiting for 30 minutes for fog to clear instead of playing the game I loaded, how did you know? /s

Plains. Fell in love with it since it was/is deadly and bright. Very welcome after swamps gloom and mountains blizzards. It gets occasional fog but who doesn't like wondering if that dark shape is a rock or lox.

Probably a tie between Plains and Mountains.

I remember a server that I played on where I found a small plains surrounded by mountains with a bit of a hilly mountain jutting into said plains. I decided to make a tunnel system under some rock plains that opened out into some ramparts outside winding up said hill to the mini mountain where I built a fort. Pretty fun build and I was kinda neat having a rather long tunnel system with 2 portals inside and a ventilated stone fireplace in one corner.

I did have to use the hoe and sometimes rock flagstones on the outside as a way to cover up open sky inbetween using boulders for a more natural look.

I can't answer that, they all have appeal, ML less than the rest because while its pretty, you can't see it usually.

honestly i love the dark forest. the wind going thru the trees, some bood areas to build and plenty of stuff to do

Mechanically it can be a little annoying with all the greydwarfs but i love the black forest. Obviously not so much for the challenge, considering you can pretty much own the black forest even before beating deer jesus (at least in the sense of surviving all the hazards with ease, maybe not in the ability to actually benefit from the available resources, unless you want to kite a troll for an extended period of time I suppose). I've always loved dense woodlands though and it kind of reminds me of when I lived back in Oregon as far as how it looks. Plus the black forest has a few fond memories for me from when i first picked up the game, mostly the majority of those "oh, that was a bad idea...very bad idea" hard lessons that come with first picking up the game (though I had a couple more in swamp to, but learned by then to just never expect anything to go right, ever. At least then the worst you get is pleasantly surprised).

Meadows is my love, the most realistic then mountain and black forest. The rest of the biomes i dont really like them at all.

100% the plains, earthworks around a farm, populate the surrounds with tame lox, plant lots of birch, collect mats as required.
