They only happen if you're spending too much time on one place, standing afk or building/crafting a lot. If you're continuously traveling everywhere - you won't get events.

Copper and tin are easy to get. Just need the services of Troll Inc.. Just need enough to craft a bronze pickaxe. The major problem is getting iron after that. Iron outside of crypts is REALLY hard to come by.

I'm currently having that problem, so to speak, as I'm on a "no portals, no bosses" run myself, and I just reached the swamps. I know some mobs do drop iron, but the chances are almost nil for that. And hammering the entire swamp with a Stagbreaker just to maybe get a rare chance at loot underground doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me...

So, not sure how to tackle that one yet.

As electricdawn already said, you can get copper and tin by making the trolls do the work for you.

I used to play with a potato laptop in the past and always skipped Bonemass because of the lag in the swamp areas, especially during fights. Finding silver with Stagbreaker is easy and after a while you start to kind of see what areas could possibly have silver. Finding iron is also possible with Stagbreaker, though it's a bit more difficult because unlike silver, iron doesn't give the "too hard" message, just "0". I guess I was lucky with my swamp, but I managed to find quite a lot of hidden iron. It seems to mostly spawn at the edges of the swamps, sometimes you can find several scrap piles relatively close to each others.

Hm, I'm on an mostly island seed with my second character, and I had a hard time even finding a mountain that is large enough to have at least one vein of silver.

When I found one the silver was nowhere I'd expected it to be. It was actually way below the peak, halfway up the mountain, but close to a drake nest with an egg. Maybe I should use that as an indicator, although my other silver finds where not necessarily close to a nest...

Hm, I need to check that out again. I'm also going to hammer the edges of the swamp with the stagbreaker, see if I can find something.

You're welcome. :) If you clear a suspicious spot from any stones and bushes and still get "0" with the hammer, there's most likely something buried there.

well, I've finally gotten a "foul smell from the swamp". Only my second event total with close to 115 hours. Just bad luck I guess (or good depending how you look at it)

RNG is the name of the game.

That said, I do remember a time when a bug in the game had events pretty much turned off. I was also surprised I hadn't gotten a raid in over 100 game days. They fixed that and now I'm over my ears in raids.

And yes, 99% at nightfall! *shakes fist at developers* Damn you!

I don't know if it's RNG or a Seed choice...
I had playthroughs recently, that raids didn't happen in 100+ ingame days and suddenly the AI realizes that i am left in cold without food or rested buff and decides to launch a Pack attack on me.. fun times :)
Other playthroughs i got raids like almost every day. While this was annoyng, i farmed a lot of balls... ermm.. i mean eyes and other useful stuff.
Frequency of events made me never drop my guard.

Advice: Never let your guard down, even if raids are not happening for a long time.

I'm doing a no-boss run mostly because I hate raids and don't like spamming stopevent command, it's currently day 97, I'm starting silver age and I think Eikthyr has sent his necks and boars at me maybe three times so far. No other raids but as far as I know you need to kill some bosses to enable certain raids (like Elder + troll -> troll raids). I remember having much more frequent events when playing in the past both alone and multiplayer, but I don't know if it's just randomness or if something has really been changed.

Sorry for the nosy question, but how do you even get to silver without killing bosses? You would need copper and iron, both of which are very hard to come by if you lack the tools (antler pick & krypt key) to get them...

I don't believe so, though you might check patch notes; I've had three or four in the past game week or two. AFAIK its just random chance.

if you were in an event "red circle" and left the area totally that event is still happening there as i understand it.. so if you dont return to red circle it stays active and no further events start as that hasnt finished.. afaik

Still getting regular events here.
