Work stations

I believe work station upgrades should be allowed to be built withing the build area of the station. Having all these upgrades so close the their stations makes things so crowded.

Does anyone else share the same thoughts?

I understand what are you getting at, but to me it is fine the way it is now. Workshop of any kind is usually tight and crowded IF you set it up in small, confined space.

Some things belong outside and some belong inside, if you're trying to make aesthetically pleasing home, you can't currently the way everything has to be bunched around it.

Also "workshop of any kind is usually tight" makes no sense, you wouldn't see a tanning rack beside a work bench or a wood spitting block either, some of the items makes sense to have close, but some don't. Why I've said they should be built withing the work stations area.

This means I could have a tanning stand outside with a chest full of hide, a chopping block&chest full of wood and so on.

I role-play this game pretending to be a viking ,way, waaaay in the long past, dark and forsaken ages. Therefore I can imagine there were no such things as human ergonomic, health and safety aspects of the workplace, urban planning and whatnot.
I remember it is just a game :) It helps me enjoy it and not take it too serioulsy :)

Not sure what the problem is.

My first workbench (in a new world with a new character) is inside my first (temporary) hut, and the chopping block and tanning rack are both on the other side of the wall - outside. Yes, they have to be close by, but inside/outside/walls in the way doesn't make any difference.

I think the issue that's trying to be avoided is workbench overlap, because if it applies to a bench when it's in the benches area people are going to feel like they need to cluster their benches for maximum value.

Totally resonate with the aversion to cluttered nonsense, probably one of the "best" solutions I've seen towards that end tho has been to build a upgrade dungeon (read: basement)

Dig just far enough down that you can fit the items in a hole under your floor, then cover that noise and forget about it.

I build workstation and forge on the ground floor but the upgrades just above, in the attic.
That way, ground floor is not crowded.

yea,but still hiding away stuff - for me often hiding upgrades in walls makes building a bit more complicated imho

I put some upgrades in the wall ( with a 1x1f floor in it ) that fix so well this problem

You can also put some stuff (chopping block? anvils?) up on shelves.

had been discussed over and over again
but yeah - i would like to place upgrades not bunched up around the workstation
in some cases the stuff up ends in a overpacked bunch-o-stuff in a corner of my base/house where i want things to be a bit more organized - hard on smaller bases/houses

so +1 from my side again
