Trouble with boar breeding
I've got two boars in my pen. One is walking around fine and the other is endlessly running back and forth against the fence. Changed the dimensions of the fence, it still does it. I'm trying to breed them but they're not playing ball. It's a 1* and no stars.
Anyone got any idea?

The boar is too far from where you found it, probably. Every time, after H&H, I've brought a boar from farther than the render distance it's kept running back and forth along the wall closest to its roaming location. Moving the pen wall has always resulted in the boar simply adjusting the spot where it runs.
Really annoying. In my current game I was super lucky and star boars spawned right next my base after I'd built it.
It worked fine prior to H&H.
Yeah I think this makes sense. I did run it quite a while and the direction it's pressed up against the wall is towards where I found it. And moving the wall just moves where he runs.
It was the only star boar my friend and I found after 2 hours of searching. Sadly only a 1 star.
The boars did breed with time, thankfully. Seems the running pattern was unrelated and just made it harder to observe their behavior.
We've kept it. That one is just a bit... Different, lol. It was the beginning of our entire herd so I don't have the heart, and it gives it personality. We named it Hogscotch.

The whole taming is not really a taming. The animals still remain "wild", they just ignore the player mostly. It's poorly made "taming" system I hope to be changed one day.

IK wolves will get frightened if there is fighting going on around you. I was in our mountain rock base, and my bro was fighting a drake outside and the wolves went nuts

This has happened to me before, I really don't know the cause or the solution. It got away once and it ran in a straight line! Definitely unusual. I ended up just finding another 2 star to replace it.

This happened to me as well, except that the pen was just a few meters from their spawning location (near a Boars runestone), and I thought it was the reason. The other pig was normal though. I killed it once they reproduced. The boar is too far from where you found it, probably. Depending what stage of the game you are at, could also be a skeleton archer, or Draugr archer shooting at the pen, hell even a grey dwarf throwing a rock, and the boar reacted (frightened) from the projectile hitting the wall, causing it to go crazy, but the other boar was out of range of the area effect of the projectile?
Also could be a nearby beehive you have built that is attacking the boars? I have seen that happen before on my old world, it happens sometimes.
A nearby enemy spawn could also be making them aggro, if there are no spawn preventing items near their pen.
Only other reason they won't calm down is a nearby fire.
Also stake wall is fine to use for a pen, I have mine in a stake wall fence & they breed no problem, away from fire, dark area, enclosed, protected by 2 star wolves 24/7 that kill anything that gets too close.

The OP already stated there is no fire or enemies nearby, and that the boar is not frightened...

most likely a fire is too close. i put up a brazier just outside my boar's fence and they started freaking out. moved my fence over a meter and they're fine.

I had a fire in a house nearby that used X shaped pieces to make a decorative wall and the boars could see through it, so I had to use basic wall pieces instead. I moved my Bees too in case they scared them. Also check for a mob somewhere outside the base that's just stuck on scenery.

your boar is frightened. fire or enemy will cause that state.

Says it's tame and happy. No exclamation point over it. No fire, no enemies. your boar is frightened. fire or enemy will cause that state.

I'm using stake wall, could that be it? Should I switch to fence? Looks like some kind of pathing bug or something maybe?
