New update and map

So today im planning to play new update. I wanted to play on my old map, but developers said that is better to start a new map :/, i dont want to lost my big work, can i play on old map, did i lost something?

New content will appear in newly explored areas. Some stuff will be in older areas. But the full experience will be in the "fresh" areas!
That is why it is recommended to start anew. But not 100% needed.

There are also building mods you can use to export your bases as portable schematics.

You can set your own starting conditions offcourse! Take what you don't want to lose. Or start naked and afraid again!
