Killing the bosses make only sense if you really need their stuff.
Why should one make the Meadows harder before he has a upgraded Crude bow, flint knife and full Troll Armor. (and as sideffect 12+ Surtling Cores)

Sure thats not necessary to kill elder, but you have less annoying mobs in the meadows

So its a good preparation to start mining, and thats the point you need to kill Eiktyr

In start of the game you get the first pikaxe after you defeat the first boss.
later in the game you need the Iron pikaxe to mine other materials example in the mountain biome with snow.

cheese =/= exploit.

Troll mining is not easy or safe, but can save some time in some speed running situation. Risk, reward...

I'm sure you are not ment to farm ores with the help of trolls.
But w can argu all day about it been an exploit or not.

I doubt that in this case

First boss kill, though you can cheese around it if you just want to go out of your way to exploit.

Hardly an exploit if you can do it in the game without making use of bugs of glitches.

You can defeat the first boss (deer) and get the first pickaxe.
Or if you dont want to do any boss fights (for a while) you try to find a different way to break the mineral rocks ;)
