Prarie. And don't explore too far into the Ash_lands or Northwhatever areas.

Its the last area of the map that is currently finished.

The more you explore the more area of your map you will "lock" in that bioms current form. The terrain is going to be generated out 500 meters from the edge of the revealed map and won't get any new content from later patches.

If you have already been all over your map you will probably need to create a new world after the the next big content update or use the Upgrade_Worlds mod to reset portions of your world to actually get any of the newer content.

For me, biome doesn't matter much, as long as it wasn't a swamps. I usually build my main bases on small islands, I don't have to dig ditches or build up a lot of workbenches etc. to not worry about invasions, and random mobs. I always set up farms on the plains because you can grow anything there, if possible also on the island.

Far north or deep north or whatever. I built a cool base at the very top of the map and can actually see the edge of the world from the balcony. Island bases are cool too...

Yea, swamps aren't too fun. Although a friend of mine built a really cool "pirate" themed base in the swamps. And I usually build on Islands as well. Just cant stand living in the meadows after defeating Bonemass

I like the scenery of the black forest, for sure, just get annoyed with the troll raids.

I prefer the places that intersect to make very unusual bases.

My first main base was on the plains, to be precise, it stood on two pillars, they were relatively close together. I also saw the buildings of the people above the Yagluth altar.

Its awesome, but the devs forgot to add snow cover for roof tiles up there. It's odd, I get blizzards, but I guess my altitude is low enough not to be considered "mountains" and be deep north instead. Weird thing at the north pole.

I havent built a base, persay, in the plains besides a farm for flax and barley. Just had a basic bed to set my spawn point and raised ground for defense.

Maybe a cave in the mountains under some larger rocks? it would probably not be easy to find a decent place for such a project.

Mine straddles Meadows and Plains. It allows me to grow every crop available. Only base too. The rest are simply portal outpost to different regions of the world.
