Trolls are scary, but they're actually quite defeatable, even with (almost) starting gear - as long as you get a bow. Just shoot and keep out of reach. It'll take a lot of arrows with the first crude bow, but, it helps if you use fire arrows. You also need to keep a careful eye on your stamina - eating something helps, as always.

Now, the question is, are you being trolled, or were you unlucky with the world seed? I am not sure, but if you play with friends on a community registered server, you should absolutely password protect your game/server if you don't want surprises.

You encounter trolls normally in the black forest, but they can definitely wander along its edges, so if there's a black forest (quite) near the spawn - as in, a stone's throw - it might not be shenanigans.

If it's more than one troll, it's definitely shenanigans. They don't normally spawm near each other.

Last bit - spawn point? You should make a bed in your base/house so you spawn there, not at the circle of stones. Also, if that bed is in the black forest, trolls are natural.

I know the owner of the dedicated server. He doesn't know who keeps trolling his server lol. So I've been trying to help out. Unfortunately we can not think of an effective solution. But thanks for all the feedback!

I made a moat around the spawn though...not sure how long it'll last 🤣

Anyone, not just the server admin/owner, can do whatever they want and the server admin/owner can do nothing about it so long as that person has the password. So again, it has nothing to do with a server admin/owner wanting or not wanting a players who gets griefed around.

Look I'm not saying the server admin/owner is responsible for doing the griefing. But they can control who is on with passwords and vetting people. If they choose not to do that it isn't like anyone else can... right?

The point is moot anyway. As a player wanting to join getting tromped constantly there is no choice other than to not play there.

All servers you see running are being controlled by other players. The person who is paying for the server, owned or rented, is basically God on that server.

A fully pimped out Draugr Fang bow and needle arrows. With any luck, you'll be one-shotting the blue nuisances. For longer term solutions, remember that workbenches suppress spawns and trolls have a lot of trouble crossing deep ditches. You can't dig ditches in the immediate vicinity of the spawn point, but a moat a bit further out and some strategically placed workbenches should do the trick.

How do you stop people from trolling the server? Just wondering if there is a way to stop the people doing this so other people who join the server can play too.

Should I build a fortress around the spawn? Or is this some sort of cheat?

You only play on private severs where you carefully vet everyone and white list through steam groups so they can't invite other people without approval.
Otherwise yes, people can use mods and cheats to grief servers and there is nothing you can do about it.

Not join that game? Just play your own game or with friends is the best solution i have for you.

Some black forest areas have tons of troll spawns. Probably RNG generated as you first enter the biome. If you are troll infested by the first spawn/shrine area then you are being trolled by people on the server... pun intended.
