Its on a % bases, and not a 5 min mark.

So when there is like 20% left the food will flash.
Edit: I dont know which % its at, the 20% was just an example.

Seems to me your health/stamina stay stable with no loss. But once it starts flashing it reacts like before the patch and you start ticking down health and stamina.

Someone can correct me if wrong. Just a personal observation.

Don't it start flashing at 50% duration left? It means you can eat another food to refresh it or replace it, too.
